The change that at “bad weather” conditions airplanes spawn from the airfield also affects arcade - at least naval. Had yesterday a number of matches where my “Stuka” JU87 has to start from the airfield - for this slow plane it took a long time to gain height and to reach the battlefield. For me its a additional nerf for planes. I don’t know if ground or air arcade is also affected. But I hope this will be reversed as bad weather doesn’t provide any cover or benefit for planes to compensate the negative efffects.
I’m really lost of why this change came in – what is its purpose?
(Especially in the Prop eras)
I know this is an arcade (and naval) post, but in Air RB and I’m in a bomber, particularly the bigger slower ones, I want to airpsawn in the cloud maps. So I can be above the clouds (hidden from people below the clouds), or I can descend a bit, get some speed and into the cloud, and also be hidden. It’s not difficult to spawn in clouds in bad weather… is it? Am I missing something? It’s better for all that I can see.
Also the times I’ve seen it call bad weather aren’t times it’s bad weather at all. Few dark clouds around, still lots of blue sky in between… this is bad weather?
I know the spawn location can be changed, but why force-change it to be airfield for so called bad weather?
Edit: This is a “bad weather” map (Air RB)
Idk bout lower tiers, but top tier you can still air spawn if you want
It came in to at least try to give gound vehicles a bit of peace from CAS.
That’s it.
I believe forced runway spawning should be all the tim
Posting another players opinion too:
@MokaMoki pinging you in case you wanted to read/add more to this thread too.
And my 2 cents:
atleast when they added it they could of added a setting to turn that shit of
Worst feature ever. I rage-quit every time I spawn on an airfield in Naval battles.
Yeah, this is an issue in all game modes. Ground RB, Air RB, doesn’t matter. I have never experienced issues with air spawn in bad weather, defaulting to airfield spawn in bad weather is absolutely atrocious and should never have been a thing.
In GRB its not even true since you can still choose to spawn in air. Even then its not a problem to spawn in airfield since GRB map are small compare to air map. In air mode (especially prop plane), spawning in airfield is an absolute horrible, gaijin momentos, moment. You got a mediocre climb rate (as a bomber/interceptor) at best and you usually get screwed by a fighters which beat you in almost everything.
yes one can choose the spawn-point but mostly I forget to switch - I see no sense in the default spawn at airfield at “bad weather” which often means that there are only a few clouds…
They need to give the option to default air spawn and it you want to spawn on airfield then select the option to. They can’t expect us to change a decade of muscle memory to make sure we’re spawning in air every time we play a match. All this over a change absolutely no one asked for.
In a recent update they introduced a game setting to ignore the “bad weather” reset-you-to-airfield spawn.
But, it’s not enabled by default, so you have to go and change it… :/
(and then hope it stays, and not gets reset like some of my settings do sometimes)
This whole “bad weather” thing is still nonsensical to me. They should have named it something different if they were trying to achieve something. Calling it “bad weather” (when it isn’t) and then making it actually harder (as air spawn would be considered easier than a take-off, plus the silliness of a slow, practically non-climbable bomber starting from ground), is all just non-intuitive to me.
This is huge thank you so much for letting me know!! It is also crazy to me this wasn’t introduced with the change itself.
Damn it I just got gaijined as well, Tu-2 spawned at airfield when there are clouds at very high alt and died to an A-26, an 150% booster wasted.
