Spading a top-tier jet in War Thunder

After the recent events, I ended up needing to spade 4 top-tier jets, and honestly I didn’t expect just how frustrating this would be. The grind feels heavier than ever when you’re repeating that same uphill battle multiple times in a row.

Spading a top-tier jet in feels like pure chaos sometimes.

You load in with just 2 radar missiles and 2 heatseekers , trying to make progress, and meanwhile fully spaded jets with 12 missiles are already rushing straight at you. Every match feels like you’re fighting at a disadvantage before the battle even starts.

Even trying to score a few ground targets can be a struggle — matches end so fast that you’re often only halfway through your plan before the match closes. And when your team collapses early, suddenly you’re one of the last players left with half the enemy team hunting you down.

It’s a weird mix of frustration and determination — you’re just trying to grind upgrades while everything around you is moving at top speed. Every kill, every assist, even a couple of ground targets starts to feel like a real achievement.

How is this supposed to be solved? Should first matches in a new top-tier jet really feel this punishing? It feels like the early grind is the hardest part — not because of skill, but because of how huge the gap is between stock and fully spaded aircraft.

Top-tier spading isn’t just a grind… it’s something else

Cheers.

My top tier grind of F-18C late and F-15C GE have been worst grind ever since i have started playing. Stock planes are brutal to play at top tier. I have just stop spading those two jets since i really don’t know how to grind them now

First you need to unlock chaff. After that things get a bit better, but having a few more IR missiles still doesn’t help much — especially when everything happens at greater distances with fox3 now.

Capturing bases? Forget it. Spaded planes are faster and reach them long before I can even get close. On top of that, some missiles are locked behind Tier 4 upgrades, which makes progression even more difficult.

I understand that the devs need to make money, but honestly, most of their income probably comes from sales and premium accounts anyway. Whenever there’s a sale, the lobby is full of premium vehicles, so the idea that not many players pay doesn’t really hold up.
