I am sure everyone and their mom is going to pull the “git gud” crap but in no world should a SPAAG at 1400 meters be able to kill a tank. I was just killed from that range by the Russian 23mm i think is…the quad barrel AA.
Even at 100m, a 23mm shouldnt do much of anything. Ok maybe the Gepards 35mm but overall these are busted to no end and need to be reined in ASAP. The fire rates are too high to have that level of penetration and lets not even talk about them doing it with the AA ammunition. Ive done in a Gepard not using the APFSDS. Has to be a balance with them and this just isnt it.
Let them have the 50m kill range but at distance those rounds lose far to much energy to say they still penetrate hardened armor plate. Its funny even if they ammo is rated only 50mm, you can still punch through 100+mm without any issue so there is something wrong in the math.
In my experience, barreling is extremely difficult because of its low calibre. Its also noticably a LOT less manouverable than other SPAA so killing tanks is much harder. And the Gepard is only 0.3 higher for a much better platform…
Well I can’t exactly see it performing well against anything faster… it shoots slow, its got low round velocity and its turret doesn’t move around fast.
Shilka’s radar is awful, it only works for searching. Though compared to SIDAM-25 I love AP shells in stock belt, I wish they will add at least SAPHEI-T someday for Sidam.
