Right now SPAA damage vs planes is decently realistic.
Bf 109 F4 eats 3 37mm mine shells and keeps flying.
Which is very realistic, because the pilot was Liam Nesson and was protected by the plot:
Luckily Bf 109s are CORRECTLY and REALISTICALLY removed by single Shvak shells fired from few hundred meters away, because that’s how russian 20mm works - it 1-shots. Soviets installed more and bigger guns so Germany did not realise the power of Stalin mustache composite 20mm.
Of course Germans knew something was fishy, so they tried to mimic a fraction of Shvak power using MK103.
Luckily, it was dog-poop.
See that wingtip?
It takes 30mm HVAP, goes black.
Then it takes 30mm M-geschoss and negligible damage happens.
Maybe that’s thanks to Soviet plywood bug?
NAAH, if it happened, there would be 0 damage. Also it’s not a bug. You see, it’s realistik. Soviets infused the wood with Stalin’s body odour. Shell fuse, when encountering superior strength it can not hope to contest, ignores the wood and flies away. Brits stole the technology (that’s what they think, in reality, Stalin allowed them to escape out of pity with his 10-years-old never washed left footwrap ) and made Mosquito.
What’s my point?
That’s not enough.
I think high caliber SPAA should just make the “pew, pew, pew” sound and when they hit, a soft female voice should say “bang”, “blam” or “boom” for some variety. If your plane is made of wood, it should be completely indestructible, just like IRL.
If it’s not - it should take symbolic damage, so SPAA user knows he achieved moral victory.
THis is going to make the game even better than it is currently.
