Feel free to compare the zsu 23 4 and the gepard (or any other nato spaa that uses the same weapon system). Zsu 23 4 has absurdly slower and worse radar and it uses its radar for tracking so it cant do both at the same time, its 23mm guns have poor velocity, poor penetration, and they have horrible speed/engine power. Compare it to the gepard. A fast agile moving spaa platform with superior way faster radar, ability to track and scan, higher calibre high velocity 35mm guns, and it can bring apds ammunition. Many players first spawn as the gepard becuse its so good, and what is their br diffrence? 0.3 br, these unbelivably superior spaa units are 0.3 br higher than the trash zsu 23 4. please this is some kind of joke, the zsu 23 4 either needs a lowerage in br or the gepard-type spaa need a rise in br
ZSU-23-4 trades radar for guns.
Penetration is enough for aircraft, which is what you’re primarily fighting.
Engine doesn’t matter that much, you’re fighting aircraft.
You are very funny, 1 its guns are not good, they have crap velocity and you have to wait for the aircraft to get really close before you get to shoot it down. Often close enough that it managed to strike your teammate. 2 engine does matter its very important in repositioning. 3 a ton of spaa in this game do very opposite of fighting aircraft, have you ever face against a gepard? they are very potent against ground viehicles
Can only Shoot at close Range targets? Same for Gepard
The zsu 23-4 has a way faster fire rate. also all guns are centered so they are not two independent streams of bullets has the Gepard
Radar is Indeed bad but not on heard of the marksmen based systems have a similar Radar
The sidam and m163 don’t have a search Radar at all only Track equipment
Should I mention how the sidam only has 60apds rounds? The rest is high explosive only
Also need a TD? there is the zsu 57-2 and zsu 37-2
Also the Japanese French and China all have proper Gepard clones
The British too if the south African aa rooicat is counted
I can’t speak for the Sidam but the M163’s radar is essentially non existent. Its almost never able to lock a target
Bro has not heard of the PGZ 09 lmfao
I also found out recently if you deactivate the search Radar on the Gepard you can’t use the tracking radar either
That’s the way it works on the M247 as well. If you turn off the radar you lose both tracking and search functions.
Typically try to leave them off until I see a target that’s closing so I don’t give away my position to wary RWR alerts.
shilka is beast against planes on it’s br. but tankers are so dumb that they cannot shoot down planes 20 years older than their spaa.
My point is the inballance in power between 2 simillary rated spaa’s. not its capibilities against planes
there’s always going to be asymmetry in capabilities between nations, the Shilka is a solid
SPAA and the Gepard is already a higher BR
That’s why it’s lower BR than the Gepard/marksman/ZA
I think it’s pretty much where it should be. It can’t really go any lower without being overly powerful for its BR, and it has an unarguable advantage over the 2-37, and forcing the other SPAAs up and depriving their respective nations of air defense isn’t a great solution.
0.3 br is not enough, 0.7 is a minimum, not to mention how ungodly strong it is against tanks
There’s no way to change the BR .7 without unnecessarily impacting every other nation. 8.3 is accurate for the Gepard and other radar controlled guns, you can’t push them up without modeling a replacement 7.7-8.3 radar guided gun to fill the role that almost every nation currently has. And you can’t drop the ZSU lower because it would be much too powerful @7.3.
USSR already gets radar guided weapons before most other tech trees @ 7.7, and has the most comprehensive coverage of SPAA’s in the game, the only premium “light tank/SPAA” as well as the bar none best missile system in the game, and the only unbroken mapad system.
In a perfect world with no BR compression at all, I could agree the 23-4 should be a bit lower. But the over all problem is most of the SPAAs are over tiered and power creep introducing new weapons and pushing them too far down.
But I think the best you could hope to see would be
Moving the 37-2 and VADS to 7.0 -making 7 the base line for radar SPAA.
Move the lesser radar guns like the 23-4 to 7.5 and make the Gepard and similar guns 8.0, and the 9.0and higher systems dropping similarly.
But then you get into issues with ground vehicles getting all aspect missiles before airplanes get all aspect missiles which is also troublesome etc.
There is no perfect solution
To be honest, never had issues with the ZSU-23-4, if you’re having problems with the range, use ZSU-37-2 then, doesn’t have good lock but the gun can be operated at longer distances.
