Ground battles take place on teh ground. As long as you stick to the airfield your argument is valid. by your definition people should be allowed to spawn tanks and SPAA in air battles since they are not called plane battles.
new discovery, you need a ground vehicle to play ground battles. Arcade also supplies you with Aircraft and Helis, so I mean clearly they have a place.
that sounds cool asf. i’d be down for SPAA in ARB or ASB
“Ground” indicates the location of the objectives, 95% of matches are won or lost based upon cap points being held and not necessarily from kills like they are in Air. Yes a well played CAS can change the tide of a battle, but if everyone is in air, then I usually find the side with air loses more than they win. I did once “win” a GSB match before by playing the Typhoon and basically carried my team to victory. Though the enemy team only spawned a single SU-34 mid-game to challenge me, so it was basically shooting fish in a barrel and we only won because half the enemy team rage quit.
And quite frankly. (at least for those that play Air Sim) we do have SPAAGs, they are the bane of anyone trying to play a mud mover and have been for the last 2 years. They are obscenely OP with how they model them. Player controlled SPAAG/SAMs would probably be less of a threat in ASB than they AI controlled ones are.

Truly combined aspect would ask you to equip all different types of vehicles to, you know, preserve the combined nature of the mode.
The fact you can have a full game of GRB without any Air spawning tells me the combined aspect was just an afterthought.
Then why Air had objectives on the ground as well lol ?
Try holding the majority of caps without killing your enemies. It’s obvious kills are the most important thing in GRB.
99.99% of ARB matches are won or lost by players in the air killing other players in the air. Rarely are matches actually decided by ground targets.
But there are ground targets because many aircraft are designed to bomb things.
Unless you expect a Lancaster to be dogfighting?
Except its not. You can have someone with 50 kills in CAS on one team and other barely a kill, but if the side with barely any kills holds all the objectives, then they will win.
Most GRB matches are won or lost by holding the points or people quitting (allowing points to be captured more easily). More often than not. CAS heavy teams lose , they dont win.
Also, I find complaining about CAS really funny, because most of the time when I play say 10.3/10.7 that this thread is mostly talking about. I barely ever see any CAS. Most matches are tank vs tank.
That directly goes against your logic that the mode is called Ground because objectives are on the ground.
A team can’t hold anything if all of them are dead, which is the whole point.
Your team holding all the objectives while being spawn camped makes absolutely no sense.
It’s easy to quit when your team gets overrun in the opening engagement and you’re now getting picked off from advantageous positions. Kills allow you to get close to a cap, so if your team is worse at doing kills they’re at the back foot right from the start.
CAS in GRB is just a byproduct of ARB being a terribad mode all around.
Fr. Where tf the naval vessel at in my ground battles? Normandy, Abandoned Factory, Vietnam, Sweden, and many more maps could be spiced up if you could spawn naval vessels.
Skill issue tbf CAS is the easiest unfortunate part of Grb, when there is finally a bracket that spaa can do anything its “op”
Don’t mind me asking since I don’t fly much, are rwr alert instantly or I can lock it for a split second without triggering it?
SPAA is literally the easiest role to play in the game. Just an extremely basic understanding of lead and bullet drop is already enough to have an advantage over CAS, whilst being 1/10th the spawn cost.
9.3-10.3 literally eliminates the last bit of skill needed to play SPAA with radar lead and missiles, with nothing given to CAS to compensate.
You are just somehow so bad at playing Warthunder’s easiest role that when it’s completely OP, you think it’s balanced.
I don’t know, what requires more skill?
Having to judge the distance of the aircraft, how high it is, while making sure the guy just flies straight for long enough for your rounds to hit
OR
Flying high in the sky, drop two bombs, and get multiple kills and then flying straight back to base to do it again.
Ayit got butcherd
Careful now, you bias is showing!
You purposely ignore that CAS players have to make the decision how close they wanna get before dropping a bomb, all based on their plane’s speed, turn rate, whether it’s damaged, any trees or other objects you risk hitting, and how much risk is associated with getting close, and then they need to accurately place a bomb within 10ft of an, often moving target, considering the target’s speed, and both your speed and the angle you’re coming in at, (and the difference between your nose’s angle and your prograde) and also factor in your bomb’s fuze to place it 1.5 seconds in front of your target, and hope that target doesn’t change course, just for a single kill that would take less than half a second to get in a tank.
But before you can even get to the bombing, you need to get yourself lined up with a target in the first place, and this requires spotting a viable target, spotting any threats (either SPAA or CAP) within a 360° area, deciding whether you should engage or avoid this threat (both of which often mean disengaging your bomb target), and then actually successfully enacting that engagement or avoidance (easily the hardest part of playing CAS), which 9/10 means facing off against an opponent with literally every advantage under the plus size Christmas tree, and then ONLY AFTER >sucessfully< doing all this, can you start a bombing run, and just PRAY TO GOD that another SPAA or plane doesn’t spawn whilst you’re focused at flying you plane 400 mph towards the ground to drop an explosive on someone who may or may not be shooting at you, and getting put alive.
Meanwhile, SPAA only requires having basic lead and bullet drop skills (something EVERY CAS or CAP player already needs) and (if we’re really tossing in bones) some basic positioning “skills” (not really skills, just simply not sitting exactly where you spawned), which is something every ground player should have anyways.
.
TL:DR
I’m not saying CAS is super hard, or that SPAA is super easy, they both require their own share of skill sets. I’m simply saying that your choice of words was extremely biased, and thus isn’t a valid argument.
And btw no, I don’t expect you to read the first 3 paragraphs. I’m not gonna bother proofreading either.
I did read all of it. You make CAS actually seem skillful. Newsflash, it’s not.
And the Gepard is entirely unique as the only 8.3 SPAA, there definitely isn’t anything like it in any other nation
XM246 casually getting ignored? ) :
and SAMs and SPAA kill planes, so there’s that
