Sovetsky Soyuz is blatantly Overpowered

SKR-7 often more than 2x anyone else on their team too

Whatever statistical analysis they are doing is utter rubbish, and they can’t even remove air strike mods from tanks so what does that say about their ability to do basic tasks on the code.

Complete lack testing yet they keep adding new vessels

Tragic and frustrating decline

Probably I’m stupid, since I play this trash. If I have enough SP, I can spawn Hungarian IL-28, but even this thing is usually deleted from the sky before I manage to release 3000 kg bomb. Although even if I somehow kill that thing with my IL-28 or 25 He-111, it will respawn again with a daily backup.

I’m trying to spade RN Roma and research RN Italia, I can’t express my feelings fighting this Bulannikov’s fantasy which reloads its main caliber 2 times faster than me. At least I don’t meet that shit every battle, so maybe someday slowly, with a lot of brakes between sessions I will manage to spade my Littorio class ships)

Ersatz Yorck and Mackensen were never finished.

Gneisenau has 38cm SKCs she was never equipped with in real life.

Soyuz is the only ship in the Russian naval tree - when compared to same BR ships - that is overperforming because of weird armor quirks that Iowa also has (three layered decks) and I’d argue Soyuz is so strong because she doesn’t have a shellroom below the turret like a certain japanese battleship.

We had Scharnhorst dominating naval from its introduction up until Leviathans dropping. I highly doubt Soyuz will last nearly as long in its current state.

Easy just say : Real Soyuz in history was merely imobile unfinished laye…
They gonna go like :

And turn back into that pile of imobile scaffoldings, vodka bottles and maybe some parts of ship without armour that was deemed impossible to finish especially how it is potrayed in game.

Gaijin didnt do anything its been like 6 months already since leviathan update. Everyone was fully aggainst the soyuz nonsence since very begining yet nothing was done about its guns, armour or shell rooms nothing. Every bug report to nerf it ignored.

Soyuz is not overperforming because of weird armor quirks. Its overperforming because it has a magical gun with magical rounds that almost outpenetrates Yamatos 460mm guns but with nearly double the explosive filler and because Gaijin gave it the belt thickness of the "cope we cant produce high quality RCA armorscheme " but with full quality RCA

They factually do not out penetrate Yamato or her sister.

Soyuz can’t explode a Soyuz at the same distances a Yamato can. Or at the very least, not at the same angles.

Yamato’s overall stats in warthunder, however, is absolutely abysmal and I’d genuinely be ashamed of calling this remotely close to ‘historically accurate’. Both ships are notorious for taking levels of punishment in real life that would have sunk a lesser ship far sooner than they did.

Let’s not forget Soyuz - which was speculated to have a 940 meter+ turning radius due to her rudder layout - can out turn them. The Yamatos had a 640 meter turn radius and firsthand accounts were horrified at the maneuverability of these 72k ton+ behemoths.

Edit

In comparison, Iowas have a 720m turn radius.

Bismarcks had a 740m radius at high speed, 1000m+ at low speed. Low speed turning was so bad they needed tugboats near port.

What are you talking about? Soyuzs 406mm has 30mm less pen and 15kg more explosive equivalent than Yamatos 460mm thats just insanity.

the problem is not the modeling of Yamato, the problem is that her armor scheme which is great for high distance engagements doesnt work in the zoo enclosure sized maps we get in naval. Look at the protection analysis. The armor creates a shot trap right above the magazine that can easily be hit at the angles in game. And since Yamatos magazine has actually the proper size for its gun and is not a magic quantum storage facility like the Soyuzs magazine its quite easy to one shot Yamato this way
Soyuz is overperforming, because Gaijin brought a fantasy ship that was never constrained by reality into a world of ships that were

Open it in SDK and you’ll see the magazines are correctly sized for 40.6cms despite the visual being Kronshtadt size.

Factually less penetration, which you just proved.

The explosive filler, though anomalous, is equivalent to navweapons - if that information is actually accurate.

Yamato’s notorious for being killed by 12.7cm sap from the Somers. Its armor scheme is bugged and largely doesn’t work.

Shot trap or not, a Gneisenau can instantly kill a Yamato at 18km, which it was functionally immune to at that distance in real life.

(The armor belt alone can block 46cm shells at 20km.)

Edit

I would like to mention that Yamato isn’t the only ship in a terrible state: Roma and Italia should have a 1.9 to 2.0 rpm aced, not 1.3.

Most of the American dreadnoughts would also not be so painful if they had at least a 32 second reload aced.

It is bugged yeah. I was getting absolutely bonkers penetrations that should have never happend.
Gaijin doesnt care. Just copy paste Yamatos armour bugs to Musashi and put in exactly same ammoracks just change numbers.

Still not really correct ammo layout. And doesnt change fact that Yamato gets one tapped by any ammo explosion and this shit can live with 2/3 main gun ammo explosions.

Yeah gaijin again doesnt care of the report to make the shells realistic.
Gaijin be like : “we may alter it later depending on performance.”
Its been 6 months of farming with soyuz? DOES IT STILL UNDERPERFORMS OR SOMETHING?

I’ve had my Mutsu lose 3 ammunition magazines with near full ammo and still have enough crew to keep fighting. Soyuz is - surprisingly - not the exception.

50/50. I agree they should match the visual model to the actual component size, if only to dispel the myth that Soyuz’s magazines are disproportionately small. I honestly have no idea why they Copy and pasted Kronshtadt’s visual magazine model to begin with since they gave the turrets the proper sizes below the barbettes.

50/50. People often don’t realize patches are usually 3 to 6 months of development before actually deploying. Although I 100% agree a set of bug squash patches should be priority but I’m not the developer.

probably because theres no real world example to base the magazines on which is the entire problem with that ship. None of it has any real world comparison Gaijin could have used.

No. the armor is. Survivability is always the most important factor on ship’s balancing, following the firepower. Kommuna, Scharnhorst. They all shines when they excels at survivability and their reign ends with counter-survivability appears.

Yes but in Soyuzs case its not because of quirks like the other guy said. Its straight up a wrongly modeled armor that works to the benefit of the ship.

Well, armor is not wrongly modeled imo. The bigger problem is that 20 km spawn conquest is just too much good for her.

Too many people crying about ‘Yamato needs bigger map’ but acutally Soyuz benefits more than Yamato on bigger map. Sadly, for sake of 8.3 and further European battleships, Yamato should get killed along with Soyuz.

There is no imo here. Soviet plate plants were incapable of producing RCA thicker than 230mm so they replaced them with thicker face hardened plates where they had to. Yet in game we get the thickness of the face hardened plates but in full RCA quality. Its essentially best of both worlds rn.

Yeah in your opinion. I never saw none of here showing proof of it.

Besides, such case, Yamato’s armour is also going to be nerfed as it’s VH, which is inferior compared to Cemented Armor.
Actually, depending on which armor is becoming standard ‘cemented armor’, even American or Italian can be nerfed.
