Sovetsky Soyuz is blatantly Overpowered

There’s a lot that could be considered if Gaijin goes down the whole paper route. There’s a load of strange and/or interesting designs stares at the Tilliman Battleships. A-150, though, would be quite a monstrous ship, depending on which design they would go for. There’s also in a similar vein to Gneisenau/Sevastopol the proposed 510mm upgrade proposal for Yamato

As much as I love paper ships (at least ones that are plausible and most likely to be built) lets not get ahead of our selves here. For the US, all we need is the Iowa-class USS Missouri, where her bulkhead armor is increased to a whopping 14.5"! (368mm). Iowa is already a strong ship, an addition like Missouri will make her an angling god. Montana was unfortunately never laid down, but it seems to me us US naval players wont need her thankfully, despite her being my favorite paper ship.

The British still have their Lion-class battleships, as long as they keep in with British excellent module layout practice they should be competetive. Importantly, they were laid down and fully in keeping within the rules.

Japan has the infamous A-150 Super Yamato, but if it inherits Yammys armor layout she wont be much of an improvement.

Italy and France unfortunately never had a laid down super BB that can be used. For their sakes, Roma and Richelieu should be given their best possible stats in RoF and dispersion to keep them competetive.

Now back onto the topic of the Soyuz, I absolutely refuse to allow Gaijin to give this fantasy ship the Kirov treatment. A 40 second reload and a dispersion nerf is needed to makeup for her invincibility. I will also advocate her ridiculously long and thick icebreaker result in her sinking if hit enough times, espesially since Gaijin doesn’t want to touch the armor quality issue.

EDIT: also a nerf for that ridiculous bursting charge, even if it was brought down to TNT it still a very competetive shell.

I guess I’m missing something - just got the SS and played a handful of games - never killed more than 2 enemy per spawn, front turrets get blown up easily, only got a couple of OHK’s, and got a couple using hte Strassbourg yesterday too…

Had seen a couple when playing Arckangelensk while grinding it and certainly had trouble doing much to them with 15" AP - but they did sink eventually.

To defeat the Soviet sojuz, you need:
A) This

B) or this

Secret anti Soyuz tech leaked

Could also just make it so Roma and Richelieu aren’t matched against (and expected to compete with) the following level of powercreep with A-150, Montana and the like. It’s alright if France and Italy don’t get a Tier 8 battleship.

I would just bend the rules and add Littorio up.41 and Alsace

Alsace has something like three different proposals all of which would have varying degrees of viability against the new powercreep, it’d be easier just to leave France (much as it pains me) without a “top tier”.

I have tried to play a few Naval matches.

I am disgusted beyond words.

Soyuz is the most alarming, repugnant and indecent display of blatant Bias I’ve ever seen on a videogame in my 26 years of life.

Iconic, legendary, REAL ships that actually sailed the seas, fought, or even EXISTED on the first place- dwarfed and clowned on by some power-tripping fantasy project that could not possibly have been constructed as projected due to severe industrial limitations.

This ship’s ingame implementation straight up VOMITS into the mouths of those of us who looked forward towards actually engaging and balanced gameplay with iconic warships.

I spent 50 bucks on getting Iowa and it’s the purchase I’ve regretted the most in my 11 years playing War Thunder.

Generally, I try to be a calm and reasonable person. Since I am passionate about the game, I try to bring up concerning matters in more elegant ways, this post has an uncharacteristically agitated tone from me.

But this just goes beyond any reasonable limits. Something needs to be done with urgency unless we want to see Naval Top Tier truly dead except for the few who has Soyuz, because as long as that piece of ship exists in its current state, EVERY other ship will be pointless.

I, for one, am not touching Naval again until Soyuz’s implementation is brought down to realistic and balanced levels. Sadly, it’s too late to do anything about the 50 bucks I wasted on Iowa; but it’s not too late to cancel the plans I had (past tense) to grind other nations.

Used a new method of data analysis with this as an example. Cross-linking in case anyone’s curious: Data Analysis #4: Pushing past a simple KD using Statshark data

I agree, but i can’t understand why it could not be alright for russia not to have a tier 7 battleship using the same reasoning

would avoid quite a lot of unecessary powercreep. Besides, let’s face it, BBs are probably not the end of bluewater trees

3x3 406mm
or
3x3 380mm
or
3x4 380mm

i’ll admit considering the time the project was stopped it would be borderline impossible to guesstimate in any reasonable shape or form

i think only carriers with large waves of aircraft would be an effective counter to Soyuz without buffs/nerfs to other ships and Soyuz

Soyuz can be made grounded and more balanced in many ways;

1: replacing the A-IX-2 bursting change with TNT as reported.

2: reducing the rate of fire, which Gaijin clearly states to be a balance factor. There are no sources for the rate of fire inside the turrets since these were never made; so the 28 second reload is arbitrarily optimistic. They could go for a 30 or even 32-35 figure instead.

3: eliminating the Cemented armor multipliers, since the Soviets did not have the capacity of building Cemented plates of such thickness- in fact, such thickness was meant to MAKE UP for the lack of cemented materials, not somehow add up as it does ingame by having both the thicknes AND material. Armor multiplier goes down by 10%.

Soyuz vs Soyuz is what top tier will be soon. maybe 1 iowa and 24 bots.
Also ofc you wouldnt grind another nation, @SPANISH_AVENGER, you got the most competitive ship besides the Soyuz already. The Yamato that i grinded f2p yesterday, well, i’ll sail that around completely stock in custom matches with the turn radius from hell for all eternity. Since i can’t really figure why i should touch that beautiful history rich ship in a gamemode like rb or ec with the same SL multiplier and the same repair cost (as of now, obviously will probably/has to be adjusted) like the sojuz, which has 7!!! Times its K/D

Edit: over 4 Times its K/D according to statshark just now. And Russia 8.7 has 61% Winrate, which is even crazier considering Sojuz is facing Sojuz in a lot of matches in mixed matchmaking.

I wouldn’t grind any other nation as long as Soyuz remains the way it is; because every other ship is pointless next to it. And I actively refuse to grind for Soyuz out of principle, because I know that’s their goal by making it so OP. I will NOT become a part of the problem.

So… yeah, guess Naval is over for me, until that piece of ship is made more grounded and balanced.

Unfortunately that also means saying byebye to naval ec, which is one of the best if not the best gamemodes in WT imo, but that will be completely destroyed by the forseeable increasing appearance and takeover of whole 3 hour matches by the sojuz. Heli EC revival here we go

the amazing thing about all this is that the battleship whose main source was stalin’s wish list is the one that is dominating over the battleships that were actually built and saw combat, for simply being a paper ship this thing shouldn’t have half the performance it has now, 60% win rate and 7.0kdr tripling the kdr of its competition wtf.

we should be thankful that gaijin still hasn’t found stalin’s secret diary where he wished for a flying KV-1 with 2000mm reactive armor and 180mm automatic cannon that they can use as a source for their “realistic game”.

Missile ships will open a whole new can of worms, especially for France.

I don’t know of all the French guided missile ships in detail, but I do know that the USA, UK and SU have tons of ships to add.

I think it’d depend on the armor protection and firepower of the ship, but 3x3 406mm like the Iowa is probably the most capable. Even then, the next powercreep is still just one step beyond.

3x4 380mm is a funny idea with lots of ammo in the air, but the French 380 isn’t quite a top BR gun with the significantly lower penetration it has. 3x3 380mm sounds the weakest, unless it’s got Soyuz level protection.

Unless gaijin decides to dig up some sort of french 431mm gun from wherever WG dug up theirs, I’m not sure French naval fans will ever have a real competitor to A-150, Project 24+ and Montana.
