They look so cool with this camo!
Hmmmm…
The old F-16A OCU can equip IRIS-T now?
The squadron operating these aircraft just released photos showing European personnel installing missiles on Thai F-16 OCU aircraft.
And there’s also a commemorative model of the squadron’s F-16 OCU that was presented to the Thai Prime Minister during his visit to inspect the squadron’s combat readiness a few days ago.
Doesn’t surprise me honestly. It generally seems they want to integrate the IRIS-T as their new default short-range missile, along side AIM-120 and possibly Meteor - This however indicates that the OCU will stay in service for longer than expected.
the IRIS-T is backwards compatible with anything that can carry the Aim-9L/M
tho it probably dosent have its full feature set if you just slap it onto platforms without proper integration

so this might be indication for anti sub heli procurement to be part of next year budget come this October, but pls no not that goddamn awful NH90 💀
but again, selection might be later than this (just like mid range SAM that has yet to be selected even though passed for budget allocation), but at least budget allocation for it is getting confirmed.
Nh90 is fine, just a specific version was awful but since then was fixed, ship one always had great availability.

Maybe is a hints or maybe not…
But Korea (K2) vs Japan (Type 90) if the price is similar and there is no modernize to Type 90 I guess is not that hard to choose from isn’t it?
Malaysian K2 would be grest for the TT, ngl.
Especiall if they decide to take the K2EX with Trophy APS and LWS. :D
But is heavy, way much heavy than the PT-91 we use right now, if I not mistaken it weight about 60 tons
Well yea, but also powered by a 1500 HP engine, top speed 68 km/h, not too bad IMO (K2EX, standard K2 is 5 tons lighter) - PT-91M has 1000 HP iirc, but I don’t quite know what the Malaysian one weights, top speed is 60 km/h.
Eitherway, both will be great additions in their own way.
But I would like to see a deep modernize Type 90, then maybe it will be a hard picking moment.
That will most likely never happen and olso wouldnt really make sense as Type 90s are no longer produced and the older vehicles are being mothballed
I don’t know why but it look promissing to me, Japan is trying so hard to export their weapon recently after they somehow de facto lift the weapon export ban in their constitution. Maybe is like the Leo2A4 to Singapore, Poland and Indo, I hope we could see a Type 90M or Type 90EX that focus for the export market.
TBF does the Type-90 even need that much modernisation? Swap the gun out for a modern L/55 (it’s a drop in upgrade for the L/44) + new thermals + an APS kit and you’d have something that’s perfectly serviceable, maybe add some ERA or something to the armour array to provide better protection on the sides.
If they cut a good price 2nd hand type 90s would be a pretty reasonable
New FCS, new gun & ammo, new armour pack is needed at least, and probably some tropical modified I guess.
A Mi-35 variant with chin gun is spotted flying, it may be the rumoured Mi-35M for the Indonesian Army
Assuming it would have the same loadout as Mi-35M in the USSR tree, it could be added after the Mi-35P and to plug the gap for 10.7 helicopter in the Japan tree.

Make 10.7 Japan TT an Indonesian exclusive BR with Hawk 209, Mi-35M, Harimeow, Leo 2A4+
:v
