well, there was plans to upgrade it to the ozgur 2 standard, but IIRC lockheed blocked the program so we cant really do anything about it (i think i wrote it in the ID air suggestion) but I dont think itll be replaced anytime soon
originally it was speculated that the t-50 is going to get the boot, but based on the article the m346 is planned to replace the hawks alongside the inbound rafale
I haven’t used Thai Albatros yet, but aren’t 76x Hydras / 16x Zunis with CCIP at 7.3 kinda busted? It set the newest minimum for the CCIP (the lowest was SAAB-105G at 8.3, now 8.7)
It’s solid even at 8.3, (and stupid cheap, at 8.3 its literally a single kill to get in it).
Hopefully it doesn’t go up too high before the next maus epidemic, the Zuni’s bully the hell out of mauses
Tbh it should have started at 8.0-8.3, because I can see how people will blame the plane and make it move to 8.7-9.0 – to the Alpha Jet, where it has no point of being
Nothing in game can be truly balanced too many moving parts. Sometimes it just better to have a few broken vehicles just so you get that boss battle feeling and have to go get the big guns or be punished.
I wouldn’t mind seeing this added to Germany/Italy as well since it wasn’t bought, but it just seems redundant when there is a non-Indonesian version of it, the Marder Medium MBT. This was a general export vehicle that received no orders and wasn’t tested by another nation, so only the manufacturer (joint Rheinmetall / OTO Melara) would be the place to add it.
The Medium Tank RI is a variant of the Marder Medium MBT made in response to Indonesian interest (not said to what extent though), so it would make sense to be added here.
There is also one claim that the final Marder Medium Tank RI was meant to have a different turret. Doesn’t really add anything, but it’s interesting if true. Maybe someone who knows Hitfact turrets can check?
Yeah, won’t be a problem where it goes either way, but I still think the rules here are ambiguous.
There’s no information on what happened to it past Indo Defence 2016, so it’s reasonable to say it didn’t go anywhere, but even before that the tank wasn’t just some off-the-shelf product to be sold to Indonesia. It’s still a variant made specifically for Indonesia because of an interest in the Marder Medium MBT.
I’d compare it to the Oplot-P, which was also made for Pakistan based on interest in the Oplot-M, but rejected before it was ever trialed by Pakistan. We don’t have that tank yet either though, even if they tried to add it it’s likely they confused it with the trialed Oplot-M (that it was later renamed to).
I don’t know any other in game precedent, so all we can do is wait and see.
a suggestion regarding the unique engine sound of the AMX-13 has been passed to the devs too. This maybe a message from Gaijin concerning the incoming Indonesian-modified version of the AMX-13 105.
The original one is the same as the French 75mm version but the retrofitted version (75 and 105mm) is using Detroit diesel engine so the sounds is should be different
it’s a shame that IRL it barely or never practice to use FZ rockets and gun pod on it and ended up being minigun gunner and utility, and then a decade plus later bought MD530G which is more or less similar but smaller than it.
I was wondering, was it in competition with Kaplan MT/Harimau that end up selected?
Kaplan was chosen because of ToT and production partnership with PT Pindad, that’s the reason Indonesia doing a lot of weapons buying from Turkey because they being generous with ToT.
Rheinmetall didn’t offer ToT and joint production iirc
It should’ve already been in development when the Medium Tank RI was offered in 2016, so it’s not unlikely this is the reason it didn’t progress any further.
But I don’t think it ever got to properly compete anywhere. From what I could find it was made in response to Indonesian interest in the Marder Medium MBT shown in 2012, with no further information on what that even means. So more likely it was meant to be a second attempt to sell that concept to Indonesia, remade to be more appealing to buy for them specifically.
NEW DELHI, July 7 (Reuters) - India will supply BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles and Astra air-to-air missiles to Indonesia, an Indian government official said on Tuesday, as Indian Prime Minister Nahrendra Modi started a two-day visit to Jakarta.
Indian sources earlier told Reuters that the deal, worth around $630 million, would likely be signed during Modi’s visit.
BrahMos missiles, jointly developed by India and Russia, are among the world’s fastest cruise missiles and can be launched from land, sea and air platforms.
The Astra beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles can be integrated on Russian-made Sukhoi fighter jets in the Indonesian Air Force.
The Indian government did not respond to earlier emails seeking a comment. The Indonesian embassy in New Delhi did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Modi is scheduled to hold talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and discuss maritime security, defence industrial cooperation, regional connectivity and broader strategic coordination in the Indo-Pacific, the Indian sources said.
Talks on the BrahMos deal are expected to focus on a phased acquisition model that would allow Indonesia to gradually expand its missile capabilities, a third Indian source said.
The package under consideration includes missile systems, supporting infrastructure, operator training, maintenance services and other technical assistance needed for long-term deployment, the third source said.
