Both the Frigates and the Missile Boats (& by extension the Garibaldi Carrier) will be “Turkified”, basically replacing the Chinese internal components with Turkish ones
well when you’re trying to make your own jets there’s not a whole lotta options to learn the tech from, we already got some through the KF21, but were still missing some knowledge, hence this.
the jet could crumble, or it could succeed, who knows
I do wonder if it will go ahead. They’ve yet to produce a robust powerplant as per the MoU. Whether Indo would amend for American engines remains to be seen. After all, they did announce a 120-Month delivery window when signing earlier this year.
It’s bad for them because No engine → No flights → No tests → No data to develop from → Progress delays and/or stagnation. If they have to wait for their own engine development to catch up before commencing test flights and integration tests, that can easily delay the project by years. And if they can’t produce an adequate robust engine in time… no deal. no delivery. no money.
It’s only bad for us if this causes significant delays with the project, extending the delivery date. Or if no Turkish engine is made, Indonesia would’ve wasted time and operational planning whilst having to find an alternative quickly and usually quick alternative decisions are horribly made.
Likely usual fog of war stuff. Some nations will deny having stuff in service for years even when there is 100% proof. Though J-10 may be different due to stuff.
Now it seems that the vehicles Gaijin will use for the bidding have also been taken as the basis for release. So do Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia have such vehicles that have undergone testing? The only one I know of is Malaysia’s T-84.
SK-105 & Wiesel were tested for actual purchase, SK-105 lost to the Scorpion 90, Wiesel sale got blocked because of the East Timor thing. ERC 90 was tested in conjunction with the arrival of the AMX-10P, AMX-13 is a foreign modification spec trialed by the Cavalry that might be the basis for the Yonkav 2,
AMX lost to the Hawks 100/200s since its more expensive to maintain. Our pilots flew the Mirage-2000 for the competition of contract between it & the F-16s, M2000 was deemed too expensive so Dassault then offered Super Etendard instead, but both eventually lost to the F-16, Super Etendard was not tested i dont think.
This one is also more interesting than it sounds at least, since it uses the welded turret rather than the cast one all current Leopard 1A5s use in game
AFAIK helis that have FnF munitions yet don’t have DIRCM suck quite a lot given they are placed at practically the same BR as these who have both FnF and (L)DIRCM.
Haven’t played helis w/ FnF munitions, especially at top tier, but I wonder how Gaijin will handle the BR (ain’t no way this will be the same BR as Mi-28NM)
