Southeast Asian (ASEAN) Machinery Of War Discussion Thread

Finished my Royal Malaysian Air Forces Sub-Tree suggestion, its now pending. I can already say in advance that this Sub-TT is relatively small and not super spectacular, but still offers one or two interesting vehicles, which can be part of an ASEAN (Sub-)Tech Tree.

Planning to start with an Malasian Ground Forces Sub-Tree soon, already have some ground vehicle Suggestions done / pending.

i mean if the truck version can look straight forward i would presume that the PT-76 MLRS one can, since theyre using an identical MLRS system

Its kind of the same with the Philippine Army’s old domestic rocket program (which was more propaganda than actual research) that led to this Mobile Assault Rocket Combat Operation System ‘Sumpak’ mounted on the back of a DMC Jeep.

Yeah, quite notable, Su27 series are huge even compared to F15s, never mind F16s.

What AIM9 does it carry?

AIM-9P-3, L, M, maybe X and Python-5.

Python 5? We are still asking for Python 4 for Israeli jets and Chinese Jets, apparently tooo advanced for the game RN.

Python 4 was never fielded in Chinese service. Also, Yeah. The F-16D+ is a very modern platform, so it’s not expected to come to the game immediately.

PL8B, same thing basically, Python 3 with minor modification and IRCCM. The devs replied to PL8B for Chinese jets and Python 4 for Israeli jets together so I just kind of assumed they are very similar.

In light of recent discussions, I thought I’d put together a proposal for an “ASEAN” air tree-subtree for Japan. This is my current rendition ( others have made similar through discussions in the JP / ASEAN discord ).

The Techtree:

Decided to add Vietnam in addition to the founding ASEAN members due to their current geopolitical alignment compared to the other more “REDFOR” ASEAN members.

Current Nations Split is:

  • Thailand: 7x TT, 2x Premium, 1x Squadron, 1x Event
  • Indonesia: 7x TT, 3x Premium
  • Malaysia: 7x TT, 1x Premium
  • Singapore: 4x TT
  • The Philippines: 2x TT
  • Vietnam: 3x TT

Feel free to make additional suggestions, I left plenty out to make the tree more neat/organized but I’d happily add more if its interesting. This or something similar will probably be formalized into a suggestion by myself or someone else relatively soon.

This would suck soooo much

Indeed. Singaporean’s have already made it clear that they would not want such a thing under any circumstances. Besides, Singapore has almost exclusively western equipment, it makes no sense as there are other nations (close to China) that are much better suited (Pakistan, Bangladesh, North Korea…).
Even Israel makes more sense for Singapore.

man kinda sucks that SG went to CN, but it would be a riot though if ASEAN went to CN. like they pretty much have little military relation there.
