Sons of Attila - Rumor Round-Up and Discussion (Part 2)

Thailand has next to zero domestically produced military vehicles.
Adding it to Japan would just be an avenue to copy+paste other nations(mainly US vehicles) to the Japan TT

Would be an absolutely horrible addition to the TT

Thai F-16s also use Pythons & IRIS-T, which America’s does not. & Thaland uses F-16A OCU & MLU as well, on top of Gripen also using Pythons.
Thailand also has T-84 Oplot, F-5TH, Alpha Jet, etc.

No copy-paste listed so far.

Does it really matter that Thailand has almost 0 domestic vehicles? Aren’t 90% of the Finnish vehicles copy-paste (yes I include minor variants in that)?

Mig-21, Vampire, BF-109G2, Hurricane, T-54, T-34-85, Comet, PT-76, T-34, and T-28 are the only copy-paste, but that’s “a lot” to some people.

Minor variant copy paste is horrible. It should be done as an absolute last resort for gaps in a TT.
If I want to play German vehicles, I should just grind the German TT
If I want to play US vehicles, I should grind the US TT
etc.

Sweden now has German, Russian, UK vehicles in their TT. I think it was a mistake to make all those additions. Just slapping a roundel/flag on something from another TT doesn’t add anything new to the game.

You can see it too in the upcoming additions to the Italian heli tree. Despite Italy being a decent domestic producer of helis, they add Russia stuff because Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V is easy option. Its boring.

All the “German” vehicles in Sweden/Finland aren’t German.
In-fact the closet thing to what’s in Germany’s tech tree is Strv 121 because of the dozer blade.
& maybe 2A6 cause of only 4 less smoke grenades.
Also, copy & paste means direct copy & paste. Same model same armament.
Changes mean no copy & paste.

I agree, that’s why I dislike the idea subtrees in general. Most of the suggested ones from the community are 80% copy-paste except with an additional machine gun or something so minor it doesn’t matter.

Do we have a chance to get an update today? On the 15th of today, after the dev server was shut down

Pretty sure they always notify of server downtime 24 hrs ahead of time.

So no. highly unlikely

The problem is that perhaps we didn’t realize that the concept of national TT (national technology tree) is dead.

Until the Second World War, depending on the nation, they were national TTs. We are talking here about the first nations of that time: USA, Germany, USSR. Then, UK, France, Italy and Japan have national TTs + small plus North American and German, depending on the nation. Until 1945, with few exceptions, the concept of national TT in WT is valid. From there, from the Iron Curtain onwards, it was an invasion of American and Soviet vehicles from all sides.
The world was infected with technology from both super powers. And this also happens in the game. Sweden, China, Israel, South Africa, Finland and Hungary are a second generation of new nations full of C&P.
It is no longer legal to talk about national technology trees, they died with the birth of the bipolar world and in WT with the opening of ranks V onwards.

I mean, the clear example that national technology trees were destined to die is Germany. Tell me, what German technology aircraft would we put between the Me163 and the Tornado? I can think of Alpha Jet and some very obscure German prototypes.

gaijin is just too lazy to make new vehicles, they prefer to use copy and paste vehicles to fill out updates.
Uh-huh, the F-16C Block50 and Mig29SMT can be launched with partial mounts removed, but the F-2 and its prototypes can’t be launched (even fabricated the F-16AJ for this purpose, and even more ridiculously, provided it with AGM-65 missiles)
Many countries in the game don’t need to copy and paste to populate the tech tree, countries like Germany, UK, France, China, Italy, etc. have many many distinctive vehicles waiting to be launched, yet they always choose to use copy and paste to complete their updates.
It’s amazing that they launched the South African tech tree with many new vehicles, but on Finland and Hungary they chose to apply a lot of copy and paste to get the job done.

Since when it is illegal to talk about them?

@Smin1080p
Will we see any french Navy Blue Water ships this Update?

Infantry vehicles are a good example, China, France, and the UK all have a large number of self-developed, self-produced, and self-utilized infantry vehicles, but gaijin always selectively ignores them, and there’s only two infantry vehicle(Warrior and ZBD86) in the game owned by all three of those countries combined.
I guess things would be different if it was all three countries that acquired BMP3 or Bradley, haha.

Who talked about illegality here?

F-2 uses an AESA radar.
F-16C & Mig-29SMT have NOTHING missing. Not a thing. Radars are fully functional, and ALL AAM pylons are filled with missiles.
Not only that, F-16AJ isn’t copy-paste.
Copy-paste is barely a thing this major update. Out of the well over 40 vehicles, only 12 are “copy-paste”.
Finland has 11 unique vehicles including T-72M1, the first of the M1s. & Hungary has 6 unique vehicles currently, potentially more, especially if model changes occur to 2A4 & T-72M1.

Gaijin does not ignore any vehicles.
Development takes time, especially for less accessible material vehicles.

It would be awesome to see the F-16AJ treated like the Panther 2 or Coelian after the F-2s introduction, a neat and eventually very rare vehicle. Not a permanent line filler.

You did. You said it’s not legal to talk about it.

They could receive the Thai F-16A Block 15 ADF or OCU as an replacement for the F-16AJ (Thai subtree).
