Mig-29SMT is also among the worst airframes being added next major update, it’s being carried by missiles at 12.3.

No one knows that. Also Viggen while not the most maneuverable, is still flare-heavy and thus rather immune to R-73s.

btw for those who havent noticed, you can launch R-27s in TWS again. it just wont track rn so i wonder if theyre working on the automatic system
Based upon what i’ve seen and heard. EVERYONE is going to struggle in the upcoming update. 9Ls might finally be getting fixed. But 9L vs R-73 or R-27ET is gunna be a difficult fight for a lot of aircraft and nations. But I think that is the un-important part.
Its the fact that Sweden and Britain have gotten nothing in a LONG time and what we have are solid 11.3s (viggen might be okay 11.7) but not 12.0 material and certainly not 12.3.
Thats the problem. For Sweden and Britain, delaying AMRAAM looks like it means delaying everything else. There is no doubt that Gripen for Sweden is a clear and massive upgrade over what htey’ve got now and would actually give them a 12.0/12,3 jet to compete in. Forget “balance” the current Air line-up for Britain and Sweden just are not fun in uptiers. There is challenging fun and then there is boringly hard
Well in Britain’s case, my point still stands that the only thing they can get is the SA Gripen for anything maneuverable.

Sweden, (maybe) France, and definitly GB will not be able to compete at all with this.
GB is completly missing from air battles.
France i se rarely, but it is usualy just one player every 5-6 matches.
Sweden and Viggen while its a good plane will be curbstomped by this. if gaijin corrects Viggens bad ingame radar and gives us AIM-120 then maybe. and i rarely see Viggens NOW in air battles. they are gonna become even more rare after the update.
I’d actually disagree on that. My opinion is that the FA2 will do reasonable well. Won’t be “meta” but good, or at least fun.
Harrier Gr7 can turn fight F-16s or Mig-29 for a limited time. Whilst the FA2 wouldnt be quite as good, it does have the engine upgrade that I think would account for part of it at least. A well timed VIFF and you’d have a brief advantage. it would need decent close in IR AAMs. I think 9Ms are a strong candidate for it (also a good test platform like the Gr7 was for Aim-9L). But it does the have Blue Vixen Radar. What should be by far the best radar in game. That is going to give it a strong advantage with AMRAAM. Finish it off with a reasonable BR, like 12.0 and it should be okay.
Combine with a few bombs that are a huge QoL thing for me in SB, and it would be a fun little package for the next few months.
Add on AMRAAM for F3 (wont make it good, but might make it more fun) and I’d be happy.
Though bare in mind, my experience is almost exclusively SB and not ARB. so… I have no idea how it would fair elsewhere, but in SB, would be fun. And I dont think… it would be all that bad elsewhere, just need to be played smart and more to the point. The only jet we’ve had this year at top tier was the Tornado F3 and that was never going to be competitive
Maybe time to bend the rules a little and get New Zealand F-16s?
