If they’re close enough where thats an issue, your situational awareness should be good enough to be expecting it. Otherwise you would’ve died to an R60 anyway

What handicaps Russia, and forces an armament focus for now, is two part:

  1. Fox 3’s haven’t been added, so instead of early Fox 3’s, we’re gonna be getting more mid Fox 1’s and high-mid Fox 2’s.
  2. The Su-27 is the complementary plane to the MiG-29, and would be too good to add for the moment given it’s more powerful radar and it’s 10-12 hardpoints, depending on the variant.

So basically Russia gets two different MiG-29’s, meanwhile the US has both two different F-16’s AND two F-14’s. AIM-9L is still the best IR missile in game, AIM-7’s dominate the mid range (can carry way more than the limited 2 27ER’s), and are tied in the hands of the right player in BVM (AIM-54C vs R-27ER).

I don’t know enough about AIM-7P, assuming that’s the one with better low altitude performance I doubt it would be game breaking to add, but the AIM-9M would, without a better working R-73, shift the balance too far in the US’s favor.

I don’t like it but I agree with you

German MiG-29 should have R-73 instead of R-60M and no acess to ER and ET

EVEN THO they had the required software to use them they never fielded them

but Im also the type of Pilot that would take 9E and 9J from the german Starfighter and the F4Fs for the same reason

also Pls add Komoran to the German F104G, they had them before the Tornados

I’d argue a Russian piloted MiG-29, used the way it was intended, not in Iraq or Serbia, but with S-300/400 and other Soviet/RuAF AD in theatre, as well as with Su-27 variants screening and conducting long range CAP… that MiG-29 would fare MUCH better than the what we’ve observed in history so far.

Thats against a harrier, it has 4 exhausts and is pretty much the hottest non ab plane in the game. Not to mention he kind of lead the missile into his exhausts with the constant flares.

The MiG-29SMT has better flight performance, close range missiles and better long range missiles while the F-14B has more long range tools (either mounting 4-6 possible AIM-7s or going for AIM-54) and a lot more countermeasures to deal with the better IR missiles that russia has.

However thinking back I don’t think the F-14B vs MiG-29SMT is a good example. A better example would have been the F-16A ADF vs MiG-29 that got R-73 instead of R-27ER. My bad.

I’m curious though, hopefully this doesn’t come across as an attack because I genuinely want to know, but how do you see the F-16C and MiG-29SMT as asymmetrically balanced?

I’m trying to find something positive here haha, but yes, they are

Are the devs aware that the Stormer HVM is competely broken atm? The missiles despawn after around 1km.

9L is better than R-73 as it is currently implemented in game.

9M will be just as good, in different ways (just like 60M vs 9L) as the R-73.

I’ll reserve judgement on R-27ET, I don’t even see people play the 27T, but that was certainly unexpected, and I’d be fine with just having the R-73’s.

There are no Hungarian aircraft planned for this update.

3 people chasing you and one mig29smt 5km above you can just shoot straight down without even looking at you. Before atleast you could see what jet was looking at you. Now that doesn’t matter with this broken shit.

From straight above an R60 would do the same thing. Thats also about 70% of my kills with most IR missiles infact. shoot them from an angle they likely aren’t looking at

F-16C and MiG-29 SMT are from the same time. The SMT currently holds the advantage but irl and likely soon in War Thunder they will carry AIM-120 and R-77.
