Sons of Attila - Rumor Round-Up and Discussion (Part 1)

See, I totally agree with you but this is the part that bugs me about the whole discussion:

GB aircraft really are just flying bricks and are easy SL.
So players tend to flank HARD or wait for the furball and then intercept people who’re distracted.
Y’know what else can do that? The F-4 Phantom.

GB does well in statistics because players, like you said, do develop tactics to get kills. But you’re not playing the plane like it was intended. You’re not even playing it differently to Phantoms, F104s, Harrier GR1 etc.
Your survival relies on not being in a fight and kill stealing.

To me, that means the plane isn’t viable. It’s a high altitude interceptor, but is forced to be a low altitude boom and zoom plane. It’s dogshit. No different to the F104s playstyle

dont forget that basically every plane can intercept in warthunder so it aint even something special here

yes I think you’re right however it is also worth noting that the R-27ER is better than the AIM-7F and the R-73 is better than the AIM-9L, if Russia loses the R-27ER then the R-73 could be added sooner, otherwise Russia will have the advantage in both Fox1 and Fox2 missiles with comparable flight performance.

give them the 9M theyve been crying for just like the soviets have been crying for the 73 and everyone will be happy. well everyone that plays those 2 nations at least

While you’re absolutely right I think that the R-73 wouldn’t be too bad to come to the game on more aircraft, especially replacing the R-60M

No they shouldnt be possibly with the R-73 we have in game we know the Encam ent envelopes for R-73 thanks to Australian document

No teaser today

and now you come back to my original point that the AIM-9M was notably absent from the F-16C devblog, no AIM-9M means no R-73.

Bruh

which is why im still pissed off

That was added long before the Swedish tree was a thing.

on another note, are SPAA missiles bugged? they seem to very often just phase through things when hitting them directly and even if they do hit theyll usually be nothing more than a “mild inconvenience” for whatever got hit by it

ik

So why did you bring it up?

Smin denied the trailer (the ones that come after the update), not the teaser, although I’m probably just coping and looking to much into it

is the devbleg just a SPH?

cause i dint know before i brought it up

Yes

Okay.

In almost every game, you’re uptiered. So 11.3 - you’re facing max BR.

At max BR you are:
Slower than every plane there, which was Tornado’s selling point.

You have less range on your missiles, meaning your powerful Foxhunter radar is essentially useless and no different to that of UK phantoms.

You can’t fly at high alt or R27ER

You can’t dogfight or you die instantly

You can’t outrun people

You have lots of missiles and flares, but you’re a jousting plane now. Guess what: R27ER is several times faster and is guaranteed to kill you first.

So…you can’t joust. You can’t run. You can’t climb. You can’t…well…do much.
So what can Tornado do? Be free SL for the enemy or flank hard left or hard right. Essentially leave the battle and then come back in, and do a single fly through of the furball, kill stealing or interrupting players who’re having actually fun dogfights. You then fly home, feeling completely unaccomplished and do it rinse and repeat.

You can replace Tornado here, with any lower BR aircraft and get the same result. You’re too outgunned, outturned, out performed and out ranged to fight normally, so you’re religated to being an annoyance. Jaguar, Sea Vixen, Harrier GR.1, You name it, essentially every british jet in game, plays the same way because they don’t fit the gameplay and they don’t fit their BRs.
Tornado works because people make it work. It doesn’t actually mean it’s a good jet, like the F16 or MiG29.

Statistics hurt the game when viewed so black and white.
