Sons of Attila - Rumor Round-Up and Discussion (Part 1)

that a swedish Premium too

so I guess Norway is the swedish Premium Subtree

What a shame the vidar is a premium, I really wanted to get it

I imagine it’s because GB top-tier is filled with flying bricks meaning GB players get well practiced using them and develop tactics to cope with their weaknesses.

I usually do pretty well in the Tornado, but it’s not because I’m good with it or it’s a good plane; I just hug the ground really hard, only engage when I’ve got a good chance, and use my teammates to soak up the enemy attention.

It’s a really stressful way to play, and takes a lot of mental energy whereas some aircraft in other trees can kind of just play however they like and take risks - I think this is where their "OP"ness comes from in many ways and why I don’t like the justification that weaker aircraft’s stats are fine therefore they’re not struggling.

fair enough.

This too

That’s an issue with the matchmaker more than anything but looking at some of the other 11.3 aircraft I think that’s where it belongs in it’s current state.

and how would it be unbalanced? you saw their flare res is barely anything

there is only one thing i can say about the VIDAR really. and its just a simple, old fashioned. “bruh”

Le funny US design stuff go to other nation first moment

so you say it’s just a hard to play plane but capable if you can use it

It’s one of the best 11.3 which is true. The fact that it getting uptiered to 12.0 90% of the time is another thing…

This is a general problem in the game design. Not in any way limited to GB top tier jets (the whole French ground tech tree suffers from the same issue, for instance). But I agree with your assessment.

Well tbf R-73 isn’t new in game

Still won’t come to the MiG-29 most certainly but it might end up on the Su-25T and Su-39 since that was mentioned back when the event dropped

As you said, the issue is that, in War Thunder, at most BRs, any BR that isn’t the top is just that same BR + 1 nearly every single match.

I don’t think I’ve ever had any 11.0 match that hasn’t been a 12.0 uptier. At this point, planes may as well be balanced against their full uptier counterparts, given how it’s what they face nearly every single time…

i am getting more and more frustrated with this. what bright mind over at gaijin still thinks the R-60M holds up today. its not even like the R-73 cant be flared

The R-73 is still bugged in this update and doesn’t work as intended, once they fix it we’ll have an idea of how good it will be, but even from this patch it looks like an incredible dogfight missile, not quite the range of an AIM-9L or Python 3 but once you actually get into a turning engagement it’s maneuverability is incredible and at those ranges the IRCCM does noticeably help at least some of the time.

bro, the fix will only make it stronger you know… the current bugged version is how it would work just better… or worse? no more 360 or 180s

Hmmm, I don’t think that’s quite what I mean, but that’s the gist, yeah.

Longer Explanation

It’s not a specific criticism of Biritsh aircraft, I think it applies to all of the machines in the game:

  • Vehicle is hard/stressful to play.
  • Only people who are really committed to playing that vehicle play it.
  • Those people get good at playing it over time and experience.
  • As a result, that vehicle has fine stats, but is still struggling in many ways.

Does that make more sense or have I confused the point?

That… was my point…

and the 180s are because it has thrust vectoring, those are accurate and will still work when the missile is fixed
