Something needs to be done about scout drones

Before the last major update scout drones weren’t as big as a problem without PIP mode existing, as things could happen like desync, or the enemy derendering after getting off of the drone causing you to not be able to scout them. But after the major update you can sit with PIP mode on your drones, which allows you to scout the entire enemy team through terrain without missing a single scout once.

I literally spawned in the 2S38 at 13.0, did nothing but sit in my spawn and scout and was able to spawn a fully loaded Su30 in less than 5 minutes, without even moving from where I had spawned what so ever.

At literally any BR the only ways to counter the drones are with SAM’s (IR within 1.5km or SACLOS pretty much anywhere) or HE-VT. These are the only 2 ways to effectively counter a drone, which become much harder the further away the drone is from you. At lower BR’s where they exist it is basically impossible to shoot them down (unless they fly straight at you), with very few vehicles that have something like HE-VT at their disposal (like the WZ305).

You should not be able to scout an entire enemy team from your spawn while simultaneously getting spawn points and lowering the cost to spawn in CAS, it is just plain stupid and promotes passive play. PIP mode should either be removed entirely or only left in SIM battles where you cannot scout other players. I could be happy with scout drones being removed entirely but that’s not a realistic solution to this problem.

I really dont like scouting, or airstrike mod on light vics, should be something for arcade only.

I dont even think realistic should have hit markers, and for air nametag distance should be capped at 2km. At the very least remove these ui elements from planes in grb like scouting and hit markers.

Stuff is just way too arcadey for my taste, and airstrike is extremely problematic for spawning CAS which doesnt need any help.

For drones even some sams have a hard time, pretty much only proxy or vt he shells from larger auto canons reliably kill them, 2s38 is by far the best thing to kill them.

yeah I 100% agree but unfortunately I think the games been like this for too long for anything major to happen like what you mentioned.

This on the other hand is just straight up wall hacks basically, letting you see the entire team through walls.

I also think this might even actually have an affect on the anti cheat since it does de render people who are far away as a means to try and avoid wall hacks, or at least that’s what I’ve heard.

Ya i got some real cheap kills on people like 300m deep behind trees in the 2s38 yesterday because other players were dropping drone marks on them and i was able to find them in a couple shots and then use the hit camera to know exactly where they are from there. Hit camera even animates their tracks in the direction of movement lol.

This can be assumed to be JTAC or equivalents calling in locations of enemies

I mean you would know roughly where they are, but unless its feeding info or lased target into a HMD or other display its not going to be anything like it is now. And that would really only apply to like 12.0+ matches.

I assume it would be more like a radio callout that an enemy is in sector/grid XY next to XYZ object/building etc. Not a literal mark on on a screen.

Problem is we cant have an in game radio system because it would just be used for slurs and whatever other terrible stuff. Imagine the voice chatter when a Z tank and Ukie flag meet at spawn lol.

For your information, Simulator exists. The mechanics you are suggesting are not fit for RB.
