Gameplay quality > historical accuracy.
We already have a plenty of vehicles modified to be unhistorical to an extent, because otherwise they would be game breaking.
I believe this is a perfect scenario to do exactly that.

how? it has barely more pen than a 0.50 cal and they fixed the overpressure stacking that used to make it decent against tanks

Everyone knows 35/37mm APHE is overperforming, it needs changes.
If you read anything anybody was saying, nobody is disagreeing that these spaa need changes. Some of us just aren’t presenting highly illogical arguments to fully remove aphe because we weren’t clever enough to come up with anything else for an idea.

Well, the root of the problem is APHE. There is literally nothing else you can do that doesn’t involve reworking the entire shell mechanic which we all know won’t happen.
You also can’t bring them up in BR because it will just make them worthless and even more Anti tank oriented.
It’s either you remove APHE or nerf the HE filler to the extent that it barely deals any damage to modules that weren’t hit directly, both of which will be obviously historically inaccurate

The last proposed APHE “fix” turned out terrible and got rejected.
It would pretty much kill of some tanks like 75 jumbo while doing nothing to those 35mm SPAAs as they can just spray&pray a billion shells at you until you eventually die.
APHE on autocannons will never be balanced as long as they can actually pen you.
fixing that will still not save you, more than half of the kills I got are from cupola shots, which isnt an armor bug
That is not shell overpreforming. It is not a spot where you can cause damage in any normal situation. It is 95% server being overloaded with the amount of shells hitting the same spot, failing to calculate.
It is a well known issue.
