Something needs to be done about 8.3 - 9.0 SPAA [Poll]

that is the reason why it is that stupid

they are usually easy kills but I will say that their effectiveness especially against heavy tanks is a bit unrealistic. Even if one single shell does sneak through a small hole of a well armored tank it shouldn’t be doing catastrophic damage like they already do once they penetrate inside. And I’ve even noticed these APHE shells penetrate spots that othewise should be impossible or spots that get overpressured for no logical reason. They dont need to go up in BR but their shells need fixing thats for sure.

It looks like an overpressure thing which is also ridiculus. I believe there are still some 3D model holes on some plate connections/overlap which leads to this silly situations.

Its like hitting castle wall with a hand slingshot and expect it to fall down.

maybe, I also could offer getting killed by a 7mm gun in a type90( spot is somewhere over the breech)

Been playing 8.0-8.7 for the past month or so. I can say without a doubt that the 30-40mm spaa in this range are some of the most overperforming, easy, no skill vehicles you can play in the entire game and few things come close. They almost fully ruin the experience of playing at this BR because you are close to strictly better off playing as a xm246 or a gepard than a m60 or leopard.

I agree. It’s even worse when you realise that the only nation incapable of, well, cheesing kills with SPAA is the USSR… so whilst everyone else can zoom around at 50kmh in their 100mm+ pen APDS and around 70mm pen AP Belt spewing go karts, you’re stuck in your lethargic 23mm SPAA, which struggles to hit 30kmh, with around 34mm (?) of pen.

I think they should either decompress the BR’s, or remove APDS, or limit the amount of AP one can carry.

Don’t get started on some ussr suffers nonsense either, russian MBTs are some of the only ones that dont die to the 35mm spam

Oh, I wasn’t, I was just pointing out the glaring issue in SPAA performance. I’m quite happy that USSR tanks at this BR range can survive most SPAA encounters (not really, SPAA still seems to pen frontally, but that goes for every tank)

russian mbts have frontal armor that cant be penned by the guns directly unlike nato mbts and they also generally lack the tall cupolas necessary to do goofy overpressure nonsense unlike nato mbts

Wait, are we talking about the 8.3-9.0 BR range, or T-72 BR ranges?

anything past a t55

Yes, you are correct that USSR/Russian MBTs are less vulnerable to SPAA at their respective BRs (past this topic’s BR range, though).

I was referring to how SPAA in the 8.3-9.0 BR range can pen and kill ALL tanks frontally, either via cupola, weak armour (in some NATO tank cases), armour holes or BS overpressure.

Frontally? Probably
From the side? They’re basically just as easy.

A lot of the aphe 35mm will struggle to pen russian armor side on compared to nato. The APDS not so much.

You can relatively easily penetrate the side armour of T-90s, T-80s, T-72s, T-55s, T-62s, etc with APHE. You only start struggling with T-54s / T-44s IIRC.

You just have to aim near the bottom of the hull side on to easily one tap a T55/54/44…
