Something needs to be done about 8.3 - 9.0 SPAA [Poll]

Oh, I wasn’t, I was just pointing out the glaring issue in SPAA performance. I’m quite happy that USSR tanks at this BR range can survive most SPAA encounters (not really, SPAA still seems to pen frontally, but that goes for every tank)

russian mbts have frontal armor that cant be penned by the guns directly unlike nato mbts and they also generally lack the tall cupolas necessary to do goofy overpressure nonsense unlike nato mbts

Wait, are we talking about the 8.3-9.0 BR range, or T-72 BR ranges?

anything past a t55

Yes, you are correct that USSR/Russian MBTs are less vulnerable to SPAA at their respective BRs (past this topic’s BR range, though).

I was referring to how SPAA in the 8.3-9.0 BR range can pen and kill ALL tanks frontally, either via cupola, weak armour (in some NATO tank cases), armour holes or BS overpressure.

Frontally? Probably
From the side? They’re basically just as easy.

A lot of the aphe 35mm will struggle to pen russian armor side on compared to nato. The APDS not so much.

You can relatively easily penetrate the side armour of T-90s, T-80s, T-72s, T-55s, T-62s, etc with APHE. You only start struggling with T-54s / T-44s IIRC.

You just have to aim near the bottom of the hull side on to easily one tap a T55/54/44…

There are no most obvious option in this voting - “Fix that AP round, as Gaijin once “fixed” HESH rounds”.

worst offender is the ZA-35 no doubt, super fast and turret traverse speeds around 8.0 can’t keep up with it, it also makes basically zero sound when moving.

Its turret traverse speeds is actually worse than all the other 8.3-9.0 SPAAs

got a nuke with it but couldnt drop lol

got nuke (again)

that has nothing to do with what he said tho

well, he did add that it’s the worst offender, in which case he points out why (the fact that it is fast and apparently has great turret rotation speed, which it doesn’t compared to the other 8.0-9.0 SPAAs).

The problem with “fixing” APHE rounds would be to make them realistic, while “fixing” HESH rounds made them unrealistically useless.

What happens with SPAAs is logical. When cannon-equipped SPAAs practically stand no chance against planes and helicopters (due to radar guidance errors, HE rounds with ridiculously low damage, etc.), SPAAs end up destroying other tanks, especially with the bugs in APHE and HE rounds that cause incredible ricochets or overpressure.

I’m sure he’s more so comparing it to MBTs, and also more so focusing on the speed aspect.

My bad, if that’s the case then yeah I can agree.
