Also, just try getting closer. Sounds like you werent firing from miles away, but try opening up from a closer window. I dont have much experience in the Bf-109. but in the spitfire, the damage drop off is pretty huge. Rarely get more than 300m out of the guns. So try closing the engagement range. If nothing else, is likely going to be a big help to the 7.92s
Fi-T I dont think is currently on real-shatter ( I could be 100% wrong about this) and Im fairly certain neither is APHE (again I could be 100% wrong about this)

Because if hes gone from a russian or british, etc fighter at a similar BR with 20mm cannons and findign they do a lot more damage, then that might be why
Oh the 7.92s work fine, as I stated, they tore off the tail when I decided to use them (I was aiming with the 20mm velocity so not many 7.92 hit before), it just seems strange to me that 7.92 is more deadly than 20mm
Hmm… interesting. But that might just pure volume of fire.
The MG FF put around 8 rounds per second down range
the MG 17s put around 20 per second
So that 16x 20mm and 40x 7.92. Combine with the nose mounting, you dont have to worry about convergence, meaning a higher percentage are hititng the target.
I was hitting the targets, but like I said, the 20mm have much lower velocity than the 7.92s, and because I was aiming with the 20s and not the 7.92s, barely any 7.92s hit
fair enough. though likelyhood is that if you are aiming for the closer range 20mm, then the 7.92s are likely hitting the target as well. At least thats been my experience in the Spitfire at least. But what I mean is, that you might only be hitting with 1 gun, not both. Its easily done unless you are at exactly your convergence range. So whilst you are firing 16 rounds per second, you are only hitting with around 8, . But when you go in and finish off a target with your MGs, you are actually hitting with both guns, so roughly the full 40 rounds per second. It might just explain a little bit why the Mgs seem to do more consitant damage than the Cannons

Yeah, I think like I said before, thats because Hispanos are on Real-shatter but not all German guns are (prehaps maybe because they have APHE and not just straight HE) But either way. A lot of other 20mms are doing a little more consistant damage at the moment.
I thought real shatter effected fragmentation, not the HE.
It affects the fragmentation caused by HE. or something. I dont entirely understand to be honest. Im just fairly certain its applied to the shells and not damage model. If that makes any sense. So some ammo types aren’t on it currently. Again I think. I did ask Smin in another thread but he never responded. So not sure.
But a lot of German mains were complaining about how little their guns do now in comparison to other nations. Truths is, nothing changed for them but other nations just got a lot stronger with the Real-shatter fixes.
I mean, it does seem a lot worse than what it once was, even minengeshoß does less than a hispano, which is strange

basically, they added real shatter to a load of guns and completely broke them. HE on the Hispanos for example did no damage at all. AP round from the ground target belt were pretty much the only viable choice. During this time though. A lot of German guns were unaffected and so realtively speaking overperforming
But a few week ago,. they released fixes that finally addressed the issues and made real shatter into what it was meant to be and thats put other nations on par with or superior to the German guns not on real shatter.
Now hopefully they will be added eventually, I think teh plan is for all ammo to eventually be put onto the system, but there are also issues with the damage models being too simple as well that is causing more damage than it should. But yeah, now cannons like Hispanos are shreading targets, but the German 20mms are doing the same damage as they were before, but noticably less than the Hispanos
