Yeah, the ground tree is easily among the most missed opportunities in the game’s recent history. Instead of the many modified variants or even domestic developments we only got:
M163 that not only isn’t the Thai modernized M163A1 TVADS, but isn’t even a variant Thailand ever had, since Thailand operated the M163A1 instead.
M60A3 TTS with removed turret handrails and stowage and extended smoke launchers, modifications for an ERA set Thailand didn’t have. This is even worse considering it was copied from the ROC M60A3 TTS, which in reality is the same as the Thai one, but in game is just a copy of the US one with the ERA pack removed, so now 2/3 M60A3 TTS have the wrong model because of this.
Stingray which is finally a Thai exclusive tank, except the US somehow got the Thai service model copied to them as well. This just made it less unique on release for no reason. Not even the US benefits here, since they could’ve had the slightly lighter (and with that better) prototype instead.
Oplot-T with questionable armor modelling that was copied over to Pakistan as a trial tank. Once again not even Pakistan/China benefits because the Oplot-P would’ve been a much more interesting option.
The Stingray also has probably the dumbest/funniest model error in game, though this at least doesn’t affect gameplay.
The O-I Super Heavy Tank is the only feasible option left for Japan (which did get passed to the developers, which is surprising regarding its overall existence as a whole vehicle).
OR perhaps a historical model re-work for the Ho-Ri Production and Prototype.
Maybe Gaijin fought the ghost of US Mains,
Somewhat similar to “if we don’t give Stingray to USA, the forum will burn!! because it is an American-built tank!” kind of paranoia.
I mean, Gaijin makes silly decisions when adding vehicles, right?

Suggestion rules say unfinished prototypes are fine, which the O-I was. While it never had the turrets mounted it was built.
Though when it comes to the actual game it’s a bit inconsistent. I think the latest official stance is they want to avoid unfinished vehicles, like how we got an Australian F-111 instead of the partially built British F-111K, but they are not entirely denied. We also got significantly more questionable vehicles like the F-16AJ (never built proposal, altered by Gaijin into entirely fictional variant).
Still for whatever reason the O-I specifically is denied by Gaijin every now and then. I think the latest reason was that they are lacking info to implement it, whatever that means compared to the Ostwind II…

There’s no rework they could possibly receive. The Ho-Ri Production is fictional and the Ho-Ri Prototype was only a small-scale mockup, leaving the only historical “rework” as removing both of them and adding the Ho-Ri II at 5.7-ish.
That’s called decompression, not compression.
And yeah, Japan never really made anything that could be 10.x. The tanks that fit into 10.7 area now… limiting.
Japan has a 4.3 light tank currently that’s 3.7: M24.
Chi Nu II is a good BR.
Though I use it in my 4.7 lineup though cause it really is just a harder to use Chi To.

War Thunder was plane only game when they came out. so the iconic plane that in WW2 pacific side’s the Zeros. it’s one of the nation when the Ground battle not yet exist, so it make sense
I just wish the would fix the damn seeker being mostly off screen an not aligned with the cross hairs, which not only makes it hard to aim as the seeker is not where you think it should be but is so high that when you lock a low flying aircraft the launchers are pointed at the ground, so you have to hope it holds lock while you aim back up into the air so the missile doesn’t just plow into the dirt.
Other than that, it’s range limited but really good against anybody dumb enough to fly in close.

I disagree about this part. We sold planes to South Africa, and South Africa bought many planes from the world, both copy-paste-ish ones(Mirage III as an example) and unique-ish ones. (Cheetah as an example)

AFAIK, SAAF gave up the option to equip Darter, and didn’t buy AIM-120, so both Darter and AIM-120 remain a grey zone of ‘technical compatibility from SAAB Broshures’, and Gaijin decided to nerf her, while nearly every other Gripen with ARH equipped with AIM-120.
Thick air tree… (which has nearly an extinction level of modern era jets, thanks to JASDF, which used not many types of modern jets.)

Why? Japan was not a heavy tank country. They didnt manage to build even one working fully finished machine. Their tree focuses on different type of machinery - the cardboard mobile boxes with powerful cannons (well apart fron rank 1). Its what makes it unique.
