Father, I have sinned.
This was my last match with the Fagi (I´ve played 4 days with only one tank, one plane and a lot of backups), I already have the japan mid-low tier line-up I needed for squad battles.
But it is ridiculous, 10.7-11.7 is a shitshow, 80% of the matches decided by what team has more one death quiters.
It is not players faul, it is the developers fault, grinding is a real torture and some people doesn´t want to do the whole journey, suffering uptiers, un-spaded vehicles, etc… so gayjin gets a proffit for that
Until the horrible grinding of this game gets changes for the good of the players, this circus stay.
So soon we can ban people if they don’t capture a point in two minutes, make a kill in 5 minutes and leave the game because they have something to do in real life? Why are we trying to impose literal laws in the game?
“a bit of work” isn’t going to do anything. No punishments will solve this issue without causing conflicts and problems. This isn’t even an issue to begin with, as it should be completely up to the player to participate in or quit a game
A bunch of people who will actually see a match through as best they can instead of going “waahhh he killed me so I’m gonna go throw a fit and throw the match even though I have enough SP for two more spawns!!” - or worse, ODL because it’s “more efficient”?
Yes, there’s a lot of us still out there. It’s what we signed up for when we signed up for the game.
Is there work to be done, complaints to be had about how Gaijin does or doesn’t encourage the behavior? Yes, and I’m fully willing to have that conversation and try to flesh out how to best encourage actual team play, but unless you’re also willing to extend that olive branch, I guess we’re stuck here, aren’t we?
EDIT - ADDENDUM: All in all, I feel like, while this has been a problem at some level for a while, it seems to have been amplified late-Leviathans. Maybe I’m looking at the past with rose-colored glasses, but the lopsided matchmaking and large volumes of 0DLs and 1DLs have been apparently greatly amplified in the last few patches. making it particularly aggravating to try and actually enjoy playing the game.
Your right to choose how to play only extends so far as my match being thrown. It’s the same reason we ban cheaters.
Do note that I don’t mean this in the sweaty kind of way, but in the “I don’t want an 85% defeat rate because I keep getting paired with people who don’t want to actually play the game”
EDIT: I do have an idea to address players who don’t want to cap points though - a Free-For-All mode. No capture points, just pure brawling until one team comes out on top. (Quite the irony of my “not wanting to play CoD” and introducing another CoD-like mode, but SHHHH it’s an option!)
Gaijin can still do a lot of things to encourage not leaving after one death, without punishing players. For example, they can add 10 vehicle backups to each premium vehicle every day, and increase rewards for winning and assists. But forcing people to play the game isn’t a good way to solve anything. People don’t want to play a game when they’re being forced to. There’s a lot of ways to deal with one death leaving, but punishing players is just wrong.
They just added 5 daily backups. No dice yet, but here’s to hoping, since it’s still too early to see any meta change from it.
It would be nice to see bigger rewards for wins and assists (and scouting, but I think that counts as an assist in this case).
Yes, but that I would classify under “Gaijin doesn’t adequately reward team play” - at least in the cases where there are people around who could help you cap, but aren’t.
Bingo. I (or rather, we, in lieu of Gaijin doing it) really need to have a Congress and actually sit down and look at the stats, look at behavior (both actual and intended), and actually plan out what needs to change, but it’s not easy when 1) only 1-5% (spitballing) of players actually interact with a forum, or a Discord, or a subreddit about War Thunder, 2) there is minimal/zero communication between the players and the dev team (American Truck Simulator is a shining example of how it should be done, and 3) dissent is pretty well squashed in the places where the dev team reasonably could come into contact with players.
It doesn’t help that the fostered culture is aggro, not cooperative on the forums (guilty…)
Giving free players a map ban or two would also help as well as giving premium players up to 4. I’d be less inclined to leave if I could ban the maps I absolutely hate, instead of just one that’s actually unplayable.
I’d also suggest increasing rewards in general, decompressing the BRs, and making the maps more bearable.
Good luck getting gaijin to do actual research. They’ll just lazily implement some changes that may or may not be good. And whatever little communication we have with the devs gets shut down with “not a bug”. I just hope gaijin doesn’t turn to punishing players.
This is statistically true tho, you should be happy that those players are only doing ODL, technically the most efficient way would be just leaving a match after capturing a point and idling for 5 minutes to get the max RP per useful action. This can actually get you some 50k RP per hour while you scroll on your phone at the same time.
So unless Gaijin decides to change the reward system to something more reasonable ODL will forever be the most efficient way of grinding even if it’s not that fun.
