This is another good option. As a 1DL player that leaves once sky cancer pollute the game, having games filled with similar 1DL players means we finally have a good game to play…ground mode only.
And of equal value is the fact that it goes a long way to resolve the complaints of those who want to run a full lineup because they will get far more players of that mindset in their games.
There is no shame in leaving after your first death in the situation you described. It was obvious early that your team would offer you no support. When I recognize that I hit EXIT.
Until Gaijin removes the “Win…” from the battle-pass tasks, there will always be ODL.
I don’t think a system that ranks people based on performance would punish players, it would provide them with a more balanced game where the people who are die hard win at all costs players will all be grouped together whereas more casual players who don’t steamroll every game get grouped with each other. No system will ever be perfect but in MWO back when I played the system worked reasonably well.
If there were not enough tier 3 players for games you could be matched with tier 2 and tier 4 players but you would not end up with tier 1 or 5 players in the game.
Just left two battles, one as 2DL and the other as 1DL… all because the team I was stuck with had no interest in playing mode or trying to win the battle. They were totally content to sit just outside our base and camp, watching while the other team capped and drained our tickets.
It’s just ludicrous to expect players to stick it out and waste vehicles on teams that JUST DONT CARE.
My sugestion is, change the match making system, so all one death quit gamers will be only in one side of the team, so other players wouldn’t be punished for there stupidy of play. And let them get only normal teams when they doesn’t quit after one death for 5 matches, but put them again into such teams after the 2nd one death leaving match.
As a 1DL player I have no problem with this format. I think vampireuk’s suggestion upthread is far better though. With your format, if it works as you outline, you will have some very short games. For us 1DL types the format changes nothing on how we play…we enter, play, then leave once dead (or simply exit because sky cancer pollutes the game).
But for players wanting to use a full lineup your games will be very short with few kills generated. Granted, you will always win, so if that’s all that matters you’re set.
Disclaimer, I’m a bad tanker but not a ODL, but i have to tell you: There is NO solution.
First of all it’s not against the rules of the game to join a match with just one vehicle and if you have more and quit after losing your first one, the punishment is crew lock. There is nothing you can do about it
But it is not really about the rules of the game really though is it, they were going to have the best game ever played on War Thunder, the most number of kills ever, a whole tech tree researched after one awesome battle, more silver lions then they would ever need, a parade in their home town and a statue in honor of this epic awesome game they had.
But no they were thwarted by the evil ODL and quitters on their team, they demand retribution and punishment for this travesty and slight to their honor, reputation and that of their family and country, it is all a bit drama queen and over dramatic really, a large contributing factor why the game and the player base is such a mess.
It call solution like increase the crew lock time for GRB. Example: first time 5 min and each time it will increase with 15min for the second time and for AB it stay the same for 5 min because nobody complain in AB for it.
Instead of trying to punish the ODLs, reward the people who stay. If there’s less than 1/2 the team remaining after 5 minutes, all rewards earned are doubled. If there’s only a third left, tripled, etc. You can’t punish the ODLs because that is how they will play, you cannot change that behavior.
