I’d recommend you to tough through it and use the Skyflash, yes there are bad moments for the Missile but overall I’ve found it extremely reliable and especially within 4km (99% hit rate at 4km).
Skyshit Supertrash is really strange sometimes
I honestly don’t get it sometimes, I fired a Skyflash SuperTemp at another MiG-29 once going head on with me and it casually evaded the Missile (within 5km).
This is a common occurrence for me so I was wondering if using the 7E would stop that
I doubt it would and this is just a issue with the Skyflash or all Missiles overall (I think) and I’d recommend you to stick with the Skyflash.
Try the AIM-7E for couple games and if you struggle with it go back, testing wont harm anyone and we all play different at the end of the day my friend.
In that case the 7E is better for longer range engagements as it has stricter guidance logic, but the Skyshit is wonderful for everything under 8kms
