WT is not a competitive game and it has a lot of RNG and progression elements that make it unviable for a SKILL based matchmaking system

like what fun is there to gain if you get into a BI fullstack turbosweat lobby once you get an ace in ARB

I don’t expect gaijin of all companies to do this properly. Especially since many of the new features aren’t exactly the best implementations

What’s so RNG about the game?

sorry, I should’ve clarified for ground. I’m not an ARB player, I mainly play GRB. I can’t think of many RNG mechanics in ground other than map selection and artillery. Both of which can be applied to other games.

I think damage in it self is consistent for the most part. It’s not common for damage to not do what it’s supposed to.

Bruh come on now…Best tank I have is the T44-100 followed by IS2. I am being matched against T10 T55 Leopard 1A and all the other crap. Bottom glacis at 100m my shells break. Side turret at 50m, my shells break. Between turret and hull, ricochet. Vision port bounces. Hatch hits and does no damage or maybe thier MG. I can track them and take an engine but how often you see matches that lets a T44 get behind them when I cant even bounce 1 single round from any of there tanks.
9 games, 27 death, 0 penetrations.
You can claim skill all day long. You can say this or that but right now the system is broken if there even is a system. If everyone is being uptiered, who is getting the down tiers cause I haven’t seen one in over a month.
This games sole purpose is to punish the player severely to push you to pay for tanks or pay for upgrades thinking youll match them until your just reuptiered as soon as you do.

It will end up just like Destiny 2. Company cares only for sales, player base drops, they push even harder pushing more people away until it crashes and then you get the “We are listening” BS. Steam charts shows this game has lost 50% of its player base since Jan 25. No thats not console or standalone but shows a drastic drop in players. Hell wasnt long ago naval battles were damn near instant, now I wait 10 minutes or more.
End of the day the players will be the one to trash this game into death. Bombing nonstop, spawn camping and all the toxic crap everyone claims they are against but the second they can do it they do it nonstop. I simply Alt F4 when I get bombed even once now. “Oh but its part of the game”…no, this was tanks not long ago. They added this CAS crap and its out of control. When CAS is up 30 seconds after the match starts and runs nonstop until the end, its too much. Spawn camping should be instant death to the player doing it and even a 1 month ban. You dont have rules, players run wild and toxic.

So yes, this game needs a way to filter players. A new player should not be facing a max crewed 10k hour player farming ego trips in low tier. A 6.7 should not be facing 8.5s and higher. This isnt SBMM, this is common damn sense unless your goal is the death of the game.

I haven’t played low-mid tier tanks in a while. And I haven’t played top recently since I’m on break. But a lot of these issues are not that common. Of course, they can all be improved upon.

So what if we do level based match making? For example what if we split level 0 - 100 into 3 tiers. 0-50, 51-99, 100+. If we have equal number of tier players, wouldn’t that solve most of the unbalance in player skill?

My point is that this current matchmaker is god awful, especially for top tier. I’m fortunate enough to have played this game for a while so I can handle my own, but I can’t say the same for a new or intermediate player. If 3/4 of your team leave within 5 minutes while only 1/4 of the enemy has left, it’s saying a lot. Of course, map selection plays a part and so many other factors, but lets focus on the big ones.

We should at the very least make a temporary gamemode where we can test out a new matchmaker and see how much this improves? If not, they we know where else to look, but if we don’t even try it, then all we can discuss is the what-ifs

the only good way to measure skill is an MMR system, which is already present in tournaments

my point is, regular modes should not change to SBMM, instead the tournament system should move ingame from its website

for 2 years i play 6.0 ussr. 1 year nearly ok for me, but for 1 year i played %90 6.7 or 7.0 and %10 6.3br
never see 6.0 or down br.
i wrote many times in here but they closed and forced to write MM topic which is no one read.
last month i see 5.0. totaly i played 5-10 battles under 6.3 (in first 5.0 battle i was 14th, this morning i nuke in full uptier 7.0 battle)
i can survive and kill 6.7 7.0 usa heavies but if enemy is german i never have a change. cant pen even weak spot.
so under 6.3br becomes %5 for now. %90 +0.7 or +1.0 still goes on.
i want everybody must faced with their nation for a while and than they will understand.
btw some times we dont have 6.7 tanks but enemy have 4xplayer. but this happens always in germans. MM sooo broken and nobody talk about.
i have many of collectible tanks in ussr. just trying for pt76-57 now. i am so close to it. after that tank i will quit and visit gaijin building.

Skill based MM can’t exist in this game… but could play well in one occasion.
As long as squads/party is on , SBMM won’t help. Except if you just uptier the group in the highest MM you see the squad.
It won’t help for anothr reason as well. You have…vehicle tiering/BRs. The MM will have to match you in based on the vehicle and your score. And you have …2 k vehicles (?) or something like that, already. Because to be fair you should be ranked in each vehicle specifically. And each mode specifically.
If you just put a number there… it will be like the level, it says nothing. You can pay everything and be level 20 and have better crews than a level 100… similarly you can farm Br 2,3 and have 70k rating… and know nothing for jets. Or the opposite, buy a prem , play jets from the get go… play good and have ratings, get in Bf 109 because why not and know nothing.
What i’m saying is the game itself wasn’t made with Skilled based MM in mind.

It could work , though if we just had a ladder, 1v1, 2v2 , 4v4 that rotates vehciles each week and everyone is in the same vehicle… but there you go to something like …ladder or tournaments, not your everyday gaming.

Also , i see way too many people talking about level… which is most likely a milestone that you’ve played a lot.
I am 100 lvl , yet most of my games are Air RB…in most nations in 1 crew (i think only 2 nations have everything 75lvl crew and that’s because i used them in Arcade a lot , before i start playing mainly RB …and that’s before even tanks get to game).
In many nations if i play ground or naval i don’t have good crews or at least i may have 1 good crew and that’s usually on a plane slot.
My highest in Ground is France , i’m around 9.3 Brs and my crews are somewhere in the 50s zone. Not to mention none of them with expertise in the vehicles they have…or maybe in one or 2 lower level ones.
Level means literally nothing.
In comparison you may see a level 50 that has bought crew points and expertises , which in reality is way higher level than me.
So have it in mind…
