Skill-based matchmaking

This game must have some skill matchmaking, I observed this pattern multiple times and this can’t be casual. This is how it works: usually after a break I’m doing good for like 2-3 days having fun, doing good matches and then suddenly for apparently no reason I’m not even able to do a single kill or even land a single shot on adversaries. You can sense since the beginning of a match if you are going against noobs or a team of pro players, when you’re against pro players you start the match, move around, push to reach a favourable spot, times passes players start getting kills but you can’t spot anybody, you 're not even able to see them until…ops you’re dead, that’s how it goes. Teams of noobs are different, you can spot them easier and sooner, sometimes right after the match starts, they’re clueless and sometimes you can even sneak unnoticed behind them, it’s much easier getting kills. Obviously you will swear that no such a thing exist, but if this is true, then how is it that this pattern always repeats itself? I take a break from playing, resume playing after a while, I do good for a little bit then suddenly I start getting smashed for e v e r y s i n g l e match. Strange coincidence?

Explain why 99% of the people in my game are bots then while my statcard has me getting 2-3 K/Ds in planes?

Yeah it’s totally a conspiracy theory, you know it’s perfectly fine to have a skill based matchmaking and many games actually do?

Maybe get good idk man

What

I honestly think it’s more related to you getting back into the game, gradually feeling more comfortable and confident, start pushing your limits, then learning where the limits are. If you attribute that to an issue with the game, you will never work with yourself about it. Try to be aware of what you might be doing wrong and learn instead of moving forward game to game. You might find the sweet spot where you consistently have the experience you initially describe.

While the idea in and of itself is not a bad one, not at all. The problem would be has to assess a player’s “skill level” and how to implement that into the game and matchmaking. Player level is very outdated and shows little to nothing concerning actual “skill”. And the stats in the game are very easily manipulated and not all that accurate anyway. Again, who/what would determine a player’s skill level would be the major hurtle to overcome to even consider such a thing.
“WT should have this because other games do” by itself, without any course of action to achieve that isn’t very helpful. Again, I would not be opposed to such a thing, provided it was done properly and was “fair & balanced”(yeah I said it . . .lol)
If someone could figure a good way to do that, I’d give the two . . no THREE “atta boys” . . . ☻

How is SBMM a thing when people are clearly able to excel

It’s a conspiracy because SBMM doesnt exist in WT. You are saying it does. SBMM would also be trash in WT because it doesn’t work at all with the BR system.

Yes… it is. You have not at all considered how this would work with a BR system

Because skill based MM in games where it exists works in a completely different way to what you are describing. It strives to match entire lobbies of players with close to EQUAL skill together as often as possible.

Its designed to give you games where you are challenged, but not getting rolled over by masters at the game all the time, and arent rolling over newbies all the time either, and most of the time in the games I play that have SBMM, it works alright.

What you have just described is NOT what skill based MM algorithms do, and frankly is a phenomenom I have never experienced in all my 11 years of playing this game.

So its a conspiracy theory. Nothing is out there trying to make you lose intentionally. Its conformation bias.

It’s called a “conspiracy theory” because it’s not officially confirmed. The company won’t admit that they’re screwing you for money. Because there’s no other way to call it when on the one hand they take money from you for a premium account and talismans, faster progress and on the other hidden balancing mechanisms arrange teams in such a way that they’re fairly balanced which significantly distorts the earnings of all the better players by filling their teams with complete animals
Generally, there is no point in discussing this, especially on the official forum. Soon, censorship will be called and they will again crow with delight that the devs told them that there is no such thing, while you take a random replay of the server, do the math and both teams are almost always very equal in terms of “average position in the team”. And you will not find any where there is a larger spread. It works, it works, but it is crap as befits this company.

Lets say you’re right and there is skill based match making, how would you test for it?

WT already has skill based matchmaking.

It’s called “Ok you’ve done well enough in a certain period of time so here’s nothing but braindead or literal bot teammates vs. enemy teams full of 10+ year veterans from well known been around forever “Competitive” squadrons until you get balanced.”

It’s obstacle based, negative enforcement skill based, NOT “here’s a general group of players who are within your general abilities to play with and against.”

It’s antagonistic, not developmental.

It’s F2P gaming 101. Nothing controversial or tinfoil hat about it. Which makes it silly and comical that people are going to accuse me of that.

that’s exactly what I’m talking about, if you’re doing good for a while the game unleashes pro player teams that kick your ass, at least that’s my opinion

MMR is just an excuse for devs who can’t balance the game and make it fun for players of all skills.
And more importantly, assuming the game itself is not an E-Sport game, system like MMR or ELO alike will only make it less fun for average players.

So,

NO PLEASE

And stop asking for it.

I’ve played literally ten dozens of online PVP game and I can tell you MMR is not going to help, and it will destroy whichever game that tries to implement it.

That system is called ELO and that’s exactly what WT does not have. However if we keep asking for MMR and what so ever, we may soon see it becoming real.

Everybody questioning the the current MM might find this interesting:

Steering the game and their players just by BRs makes no sense as they change just BRs 2-3 times a year on average.

So the MM in itself with adjusting team composition, up- and downtiers, assigned nations within teams and the distribution of actual and applicable skill within both teams (besides the already mentioned effect of using premium products) is the only way for gaijin to implement artificial success & drawbacks in order to keep the majority of paying players in the flow zone in a timely manner.

Therefore asking for a SBMM either to balance whole lobbies or just an equal distribution of skilled players to both teams is not really useful as we have the later version already implemented. But the goal is not to ensure equally balanced lobbies and to create a somehow “fair” gameplay - gaijin wants to earn money…
