Sim Enduring Confrontation, Combined Arms

Not one of those vehicles dropped like that have crew in or are even mobile immediately after landing, so it’d still defeat the purpose. But infantry would be cool to see dropped in and holding a city or section after capture as an additional area effect.

While looking through old files I found a test map made by RideR2 for a custom Battle of the Bulge player vs player mission. While his version is just a test of the map itself with a fast ground vehicle in order to check for holes or substantially buggy buildings for a noticeably older version of WT, you can still traverse most of the terrain and see how much of a change it would be compared to the standard modes.

I also changed the player vehicle to the Leopard L1 L/44 in this version, just to see the difference between a mid-WWII armored car and mid cold war MBT in such an environment.

Operationally airdropping infantry into a combat zone is a risky endeavor at best, so I really don’t see much reason to push for an airdrop function within the current War Thunder. Not to mention that it’d just be target practice for anyone aware flying or driving within 10km of the drop aircraft. But as it is, who would want to see actual dev work on something like my initial post?

Talk to any soldier or anyone who fought in a conflict, they’ll tell you 95% of war is just waiting and doing nothing or if it’s doing something it’s something boring, also, nobody would mind the bad textures since i personally dont wanna have the struggle at trying to differentiate a tiny vehicle like a r3 from a busy at 8km

it would be the full immersion, if you add infantry to it since its coming, it would be very good, also, the rendered zones could be zones of interests, like a few specific villages or oil refineries, either way it’s not a gamemode meant for everyone

Not necessarily. Most of the actual terrain is grass, woods and water, all of which we already have. Occasional ditch and holes can be put in manually and destructible houses aren’t really mandatory.
At least for starters. I mean, it would surely be an interesting exercise. What is there to lose, when making such tests?

That shouldn’t be a problem in a 3h EC game.
I mean, IDK. If there would be an interest it can get developed further.
If not, nothing easier than cancel it.

The initiative itself isn’t bad. Perhaps for ground battles, the unnecessary lengthy route through points of interest could be omitted; that is, ground spawns could only occur in cities or strategic fields. Otherwise, it’s fine.

Too many players should be in single match to looks it nice. Maps are too small for that variety of vehicles. It would be nice for a full PvE game but not PVP also most of the players leave a sim matches after 15-20 minutes or 2-3 shot downs. Just try to interrupt a bombers to bomb a target, after the second time you interrupt bombing players automatically leave a game. It will make a match feel empty. Maybe with a dedicated servers and much longer matches with a lot of tasks with to deal with. It would work but the progress of SL and RP will be stopped… so NOPE

im not saying “oh shit, turn war thunder into a milsim” no, i’m just asking for a different gamemode to grind tanks, i would even ask for a disclaimer to be put before joining, this game rewards patience either way

im just tired of playing 10-20-30 matches in the same 4x4 cages, therefore, why not have a 2h max long match in the smolensk air map, with captured points that you can spawn to, and get the same rewards of yk, 2h of normal realistic matches

I have been working here and there on making a custom mission in the CDK for the exact purpose of testing the gameplay, but holy crap does the Mission Editor not run worth a damn. Trying to place any sort of airfield asset and see the layout is pretty much guaranteed to crash the damn thing.

The Devs really need to put out an updated CDK so that content creators can actually do something and not struggle for dozens of hours trying to align things.

Yes. I need it. Why not make a suggestion for it? Might even start playing naval if they do something like this

When I have more time later I’ll copy my initial post as a Suggestion and post it in the Suggestions-Missions area. Hopefully a tech mod doesn’t lock-and-hide the post again.

a map this size wouldnt be too bad, but i still do want the big 128x128 maps

but honestly not zhengzhou, actually do try smolensk that has smoother terrain edges, actually playable


Current work in progress for a full-map EC on Spain. No unit rendering because the mission CDK crashes every time it tries to load any sort of large structure asset.

are the crashes the game engine’s fault or your pc?, either way id like to test

CDK’s fault. I’m still working on getting the spawns to work correctly.

You need no war thunder, lads. You should try Planetside 2 - the game where you should run on your feet for next 2 miles from spawn point to closest teleport, then you figure out it is disabled, so you take buggy and ride next 10 minutes to field base. Pick some dudes up and you all ride another 10 minutes to enemy base with smile on your idiotic faces.
But in 5 minutes of this fantastic journey you catch the mine and bail out for quick repairing. Then everybody dies by sniper hand or patrol helicopter in less than 20 seconds.
Cycle repeats.

Awesome game experience of your entire life! 10/10

Also you may try ARMA with almost same gameplay.
