It has no radar and it has no thermals, and the missiles aren’t what they used to be. The guns also have no range, as the HE shells self-destruct at about 2.3km. So unless you use the APDS shells, you can’t do anything about helicopters hovering 3km away.
It also barely has a lineup at 9.7, and there happens to be a lineup at 9.3 that is in dire need of a better SPAA.
I agree it needs a lowering of br especially the SIDAM 25 at 8.3 is a joke as far as the mistral is concerned if it had a real radar it could change (I think) like these.

The Mistral starts with 6 missiles, but with a crate, you can get to 12. Putting it on multiple vehicles would give you 24 missiles, so having a radar wouldn’t hurt. If you want to know if the radar benefits the missile, I can’t tell you. I just know that when a helicopter approaches within 3km, the Mistral can’t lock on to it. Perhaps having a radar lock would work better.
Yes, both SIDAM’s need to be lowered. The Gepards sit at the same BR as their Italian counterpart and it is ridicolous: the only advantages of the SIDAM is the auto-tracking system, which gives no warning to the target, and 4 guns instead of 2 (with smaller calibre, though).
Every other aspect of the Gepard is superior.
It’s just like with the OTOMATIC, needless up-BR.
Gaijin’s excuse is that they want people to have line ups at those BRs. So they give Italy subpar equipment, uptier it to death, and then say, “we might give you something soon” (copy paste OSA that no one asked for, MiG 29 Sniper that is just a copy-pasta of the existing MiG 29 in the tech tree, etc.)
The Osa was a great addition to the italian tree imo, for the 10.7 lineup.
Just use the Strela, it’s much better.
I carry both in the line up. Some maps are perfect for the Osa while other maps are not and the Strela would be a better choice.
As for the OP, I’d agree that 9.3 Br would be a better fit. Still playable at 9.7, just has more difficult challenges.
I just want a decent AA for the 9.3 lineup, cause the base SIDAM 25 is very underwhelming. It’s already mediocre at it’s BR, imagine a full BR above.
