U.S and other NATO nations don’t need anything better than the 9M right now. 9M’s serve perfectly fine for what they are

TBF, in game it won’t be getting that lock range with how lock ranges are currently implemented.
Poor Aim-9Ms still waiting on getting their like 12km lock range.
(This does make me wonder though, which missile has the longest lock range of the 5th gen IIRs? IIRC the AAM-5 is claimed to have 3x the lock range of an AAM-3, so putting an AAM-3 at around 9M levels of range that would be well over 30km…)

i mean r-27et and r-24t should have the best lock ranges out of any missile in game rn and they don’t even come close to what they do irl…
I yearn for true IR-based BVR combat…
tbf at top tier, ir based bvr would be essentially useless due to maws
Not all jets have MAWS at top tier. F-18E/F, F-15C GE, SU-30SM2, F-16CM PoBIT.(If you take all 6 missiles), etc. They all would be at a disadvantage

oh yeah, thats true. But by the time next gen ir missiles come, I would bet all nations will get a maws equipped aircraft other than america and israel
US can get MAWS with F-15EX. IIRC export variant of F-15EX have MAWS. Since export variants have MAWS, That would mean even American F-15EX are compatible and hence it could be added
If F-15EX does not get MAWS they we would have to wait for 5th gen to get MAWS :(

yeah, other than maybe EX through technicality, I don’t think there’s any 4th gen fighter with maws for israel or america…
