Should we reconsider the Tornado GR4’s battle rating in Ground RB?
Folks, here’s the thing. We all know the Tornado GR4 is a beautiful aircraft. However, its performance as CAS, whether in Air RB or Ground RB, is somewhat lackluster, especially when compared to the JH7A—not that I think the JH7A’s battle rating should be increased, but honestly, compared to other attack aircraft at 11.7, the JH7A truly stands out in Ground RB. But I digress. My point is, if the JH7A can sit at 11.7, then lowering the Tornado GR4 to 11.7 in Ground RB shouldn’t be an issue (in my opinion). After all, the GR4’s payload and practical usage are quite similar to the JH7A’s, yet the Tornado is stuck at 12.3 in Ground RB—doesn’t that feel a bit too high now? Moreover, when compared to other CAS aircraft at 12.3 in Ground RB, the Tornado GR4 remains at a significant disadvantage. This has become even more apparent since the Su-30MK2 was added to the game. (Goodness, the Su-30MK2 at 12.3 in Ground RB not only carries six Kh-29s but also has enough payload for air-to-air combat, performing almost as well as dedicated air superiority fighters at 12.3.) Right now, the Tornado GR4 is in an awkward spot—it can’t compete with the best, and it doesn’t exactly outclass the rest. Therefore, I believe the Tornado GR4 should be adjusted to 11.7. (I don’t think the JH7A is under-tiered; I just feel the Tornado GR4’s current battle rating in Ground RB is too high.)
