Shenyang J-11, J-16, J-15, History, Performance & Discussion

As I understand it, the question of whether the J-31 in China’s ground forces has already been resolved? will the aircraft be produced exclusively in the naval version? (J-35)

It is not called J-31 anymore.
It’s official designation is J-35A for the Air Force, it is Shenyang’s first indigenous design to be accepted in PLAAF service since the J-8.
J-35A will complement the J-20 and will be produced in very large numbers, and it will gradually replace the J-10.

doesn’t the j-16d have avionics from the j-11d?

Is the J-35 the name of the marine version? Land-based j-31 . It turns out that it will also be used by the ground forces? Not just the navy?

It’s the J-15T that likely shares the avionics with the J-11D.

J-35 now applies for both the Air Force and Navy version.
Yes, the Air Force will also use the J-35, but they receive their own variant of it.

You just can’t imagine how much I like him both externally and conceptually. Just the illegitimate son of an F-35 and an F-22. Super beautiful and elegant airplane. And if they also put engines with rectangular nozzles on it, it will be a blast at all. The J-20 is good, of course, but the j-35 is right in the heart

I personally like the J-20 more, because it showcases a more unique aerodynamic configuration that China is able to develop and field.

I don’t hate the J-35A, but it ends up looking very similar to other fighters like KF-21, KAAN, proposed AMCA.

Im not too excited for j-20 - just seems worse than the other nations 5th fighters like the 57 and 22

I’m still more inclined to standard line-up aircraft. That same diamond sweep wing on the F-22 is super cool. The J-20 is an incredibly formidable fighter, I am sure it will be better armed than the j-35a, after all, it is a heavy fighter of air superiority, but I hope that in terms of avionics, the j-35a will not be significantly inferior to it. Let there be fewer missiles, I’m ready to put up with that, but if it gets much worse in avionics, that’s another question.

I do not share this point of view. I consider it a very competitive aircraft, I just don’t like it so much externally

What makes you say that?

does the J-35A have a cannon or was it not installed like in the j-20?

Which makes me very sad, kind of not. The Chinese Air Force refuses to put cannon armament on fifth-generation fighters, even just in case. This upsets me very much, because rare 1-on-1 dogfights in simulator battles will be reduced to a blunt missile launch. And if they run out? And it’s not as interesting as shooting down the enemy with guns.

Although they don’t seem to have super maneuverability either. There is no TVC, they are unlikely to be able to twist loops at stall speed like su-57 or Su-35, and the gun probably does not play such a role there when the main task is to maintain the kinetic energy of the aircraft. After all, aircraft will rely more on the tactics of NATO aircraft, long-range air combat with escape. They are not planned for short-range battles.

For wartander this is sad news

Well, no beautiful close air battles, but we will launch the PL-15 and PL-12A at high altitude from two mach like on the F-15E. And throw a PL-10 behind your back

In any case, we will be superior to almost any Western aircraft of the 4++ generation, the later Rafale, EF-2000, f-15EX. It’s the same with Soviet aircraft, except for situations with close air combat. The supermaneuverability on all axes will be very strong. The SU-57 will be much better in close air combat.

I wouldn’t be so sure of such claims. Sure, China will be competitive, but that statement doesn’t really stand.

The PLAAF have evaluated air-combat and simply do not believe that TVC is necessary, nor is supermaneuverability.

Instructor: “Why would you enter a dogfight?”
Student: “Because I have supermaneuverability!”
Instructor: “Because you’re stupid!”

This is beyond the point. This is not the J-35A or J-20 thread.
So do not make such claims.
