Severe damage is broken

from experience usually if you belly land too fast the game thinks you crashed/got your pilot knocked out
usually belly landing above 500kmh or around that will do it

It was a very smooth and soft belly landing below 200 kmph by the fellow player in his Yak-3U…

i said nothing then lol

I just landed my plane on the airfield. I had no problem flying the plane. Match ends and I die to “servere damage”!!?!?!?

I feel more often than not, stupid trivial “critical damage” is counted towards “servere damage” even though the enemy or your plane is flying just fine.

I cant count on both of my hands the amount of times I have seen the “servere damage” message and initially disengaged only to give a second glance and the guy is still flying around doing manuvers and all. In those cases I often return a second time to actually finnish him off or in other ways deliver a TRULY fatal blow.

If “servere damage” does not live up to its function or name, it has to be adjusted to do so. I feel the current merchanic has some big issues. Going back to the first part of my post: I the case that the player has been serverely damagaed I would really like a message that told you that, so I dont waste 5-10 mins. of my time thinking that all the flying and dogeing i am doing is not wasted, but that i might aswell just J-out.

You should document this in video, and even show the replay link for added emphasis.

This is a scenario that could add more scope with the principal that the aircraft made it to base, so what about those who are still airborne.

It should almost be with your instance, if you are on the ground, stopped, with the repair timer up, it should definitely not count the death at the end of the match like that.

I will try and get the replay

Black horizontal stabilizers is the culprit.

Something, mind, I’ve absolutely no idea why or how.

Even with full-real controls, getting my stabilizers fully black does not impede my ability to fly at all be it in F4U-4, A6M3, A6M5, P-51. I’ve made a point lately to try and keep track of what damage my plane sustains and how much I need to compensate for it.

Black stab? A bit of trim and we’re good to go. Definite disadvantage in a dogfight but nowhere crippling to prevent evasion and disengagement. Honestly a black wing offers far more trouble due to the plane listing and risk of spins and whatnot.

“Severe Damage” from black horizontal stabilizers should just flat out be removed. If it doesn’t affect me, still relatively new to flying combat planes with Full-real controls… it absolutely has zero effect on instructor assisted-mouse aim.

On the other hand, cutting off part of a wing should be far more generous in how it considers severe damage. Twin-boom/fuselage aircraft and multi-engine heavy fighters, lighter bombers seem to confuse the system. You might chop off a P-38’s wing outside its two fuselages and it’s just a “critical hit” while it spirals to its death. Early swept-wing jets also seem to exhibit this: I’ve had far more “critical hits” that were wing cut offs in my F86 and Banshee compared to WW2 era

lol, Im pretty sure this is what got me killed, mind you sitting safely on the airfield ;)

Got the link here. If you decide to watch, plz tell me if you notice something that differs frommy explanation :)

It is painful to have indeed predicted it was the horizontal stabs that did you in, and how little it affected your flight capabilities.

I havn’t flown the lightning much if at all, so I can only guess “Even without the instructor, that plane would have landed easily.”

I feel this is a bug, or at least an unintended consequence of perhaps a modelling inconsistency or classification of a part.

Do you recall if you had to pay full repair cost though? I had a similar situation which I wrote in this thread linked below where I got written off due to horizontal stabiliser, but didn’t have to pay full repair.

So this just happend??? wtf does this mean lol. Gaijin I thought any “serverly damaged” aircraft would be credited as kills when the match ends???

Just blew a wing off an enemy, not just the tip. I got no message of servere damage, and only got an assist when he right after crashed into the ground. This system is absolutely broken

If you get severely damaged, and then repair, you cannot change your loadout after repairing because j-ing out (even on the runway) will give the other player the kill.

I’ve also crit players who then go on to crash, but there’s a timer that made it so that he just appeared as crashed, instead of giving me the kills.
