Serious Balance Issues with Russian Vehicles in War Thunder

The current state of Russian vehicles, particularly the SU-34 jet, the Ka-50/Ka-52 helicopters, and the Pantsir, makes the game feel heavily skewed and unbalanced.

SU-34 with KH-MT38 Missiles
The KH-MT38 “fire-and-forget” missiles are capable of engaging targets far beyond the effective range of most anti-air systems like FlakRakRad. These missiles allow the SU-34 to dominate the battlefield with minimal risk.
Ka-50 and Ka-52 Helicopters
The Ka-50 and Ka-52 helicopters are far too durable and can absorb an unrealistic number of hits. When played correctly, these helicopters are nearly impossible to shoot down with AA vehicles. They can hover outside the range of most ground-based AA systems, making them nearly untouchable.
Pantsir AA System
The Pantsir system creates another massive issue in air battles. Upon spawning, it can shoot down jets within seconds unless the pilot immediately dives. This effectively denies any chance for air superiority to other nations’ jets.

Meanwhile, NATO countries do not have similar options. The Brimstone missiles, which could provide a comparable “fire-and-forget” capability, were heavily nerfed under the justification of being too strong. Yet Russian vehicles are allowed to dominate the game without similar limitations.

In nearly every match, the moment 1-2 SU-34s or Ka-50/Ka-52s appear, the outcome is decided. Teams lose air superiority instantly, and there is little to no counterplay available.

Where is the fairness in this?
Where is the fun for players?
Where is the balance?

Well having 18 FNF missles wouldnt exactly be too fun to face however they dont always one shot due to the comparatively small explosive mass compared to the Kh-38MT however especially the EF-2000 platform is a good airframe and would be quite broken if the brimstones got FNF. Brimstones are a bit slow though

Same goes for most helicopters.

Pantsir isn’t some 15km death bubble.

That’s because the platform they’re mounted on is already vastly superior to Su-34.
Brimstones could get their speed buffed but that’s about it. They can also be used as a quasi-FnF weapon due to IOG.

Which spaa 11.7-12.0 cannot reach helicopter?

True. Remove!

any nato spaa can’t technicaly reach it… they have a tone of missiles which they can all guide at once… in a ka-50 if I see an ITO adats etc I just shoot 6 in a row to counter their missiles and usually one of those missiles reach the spaa first get a kill for me being safe reload and repeat lol

You know that you don’t need to aim directly at the helicopter for the entire of the missile’s flight path ?
This totally removes the problem of Vikhrs proxy fuzes.

Hell nah

It kinda is and anyway there isnt any counterparts

Dude this is just clasic russian bias

I wanted to write the same.

Tiger UHT can silently send their PARLS to the spaa. German bias!
USA can shoot hellfires, hide, and when few seconds left, pop up and guide them with laser.

So technicaly every helicopter is OP.

Its not a 15km death bubble unless you’re an idiot flying in a straight line the entire time

Absolutely, it would be terrible for Ground RB if 18 FnF missiles wiped the battlefield in seconds. No question about that.
But let’s be real — the SU-34 having six of those missiles isn’t any better.
So why is it that only one nation is allowed to shape the battlefield to their advantage within seconds at top tier?
Either everyone gets that capability, or no one does.

U right but for lunch something on the pantsir u need to find it and fly towards it
The main problem isnt its just op as hell but the fact no one else has somthing as good
Clasic russian bias

I dont think su34 is so strong the problem is that there is no counter spaa to it like the pantsir

Most maps are designed in a way that helicopters can easily hide behind buildings or mountain ranges. They fire 1-2 missiles and then quickly retreat to cover, leaving players with no real chance to effectively shoot them down.

On top of that, it often takes more than one missile to bring down a Ka-50 or Ka-52. These flying battleships can wipe out entire battlefields without much effort.

It doesn’t they’re just as tanky as all the other helis just aim above them to break their engines with proxy fuse

I’ve had top tier helicopters eating my Type 81 missile with nothing but a Hit in return.

It’s a >17km energy bleeder for any gen2, 15km energy limiter for many gen3 with AG load, after a few more suppression shots and energy lose of planes it is able to kill, force to concentrate on pulling instead of launching, or force to jett for manuver. Others don’t even have the suppression,

and again, it’s not 900sp to spawn.

And we have clouds above tank map quite frequently’

#Rotor Doppler Signal Needed

It’s Just miles better than the next competitor.
And I’ll assume you mean hard to shoot down because of engagement range with AA, and not referring to the durability aspect because there is absolutely no heli that stays aloft like a KA.

It’s not just that Russia is only good with helicopters, or only with AA vehicles, or only with jets.

The real issue is the combination of all three. It’s utterly broken, and Gaijin doesn’t seem to care.

You’ve got a good position in your tank? Missiles will come for you.
You spawn in a helicopter? Missiles will come for you.
You spawn in a jet? Missiles will come for you.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been shot out of the sky within the first five seconds of spawning. Most of the time, it’s a Pantsir that instantly deletes me. And if by some miracle it’s not the Pantsir, there’s already 1-2 SU-34s or 1-2 Ka helicopters flying around, ready to do the job.

In about 9 out of 10 matches, you’re guaranteed to see a combination of 1-2 Pantsirs, 1-2 SU-34s, and 1-2 Ka-52s. There’s just nothing you can effectively do against that.

The entire experience becomes frustrating, repetitive, and completely unbalanced.
The experience with the FlakRakRad is absolutely terrible.

By the time I manage to lock onto a target and fire, I’ve already eaten at least 1-2 missiles myself.
Sure, sometimes we end up trading kills, but let’s be honest — I never really have a proper chance.

Most of the time, I’m just a sitting duck, waiting to get deleted. The system feels sluggish and ineffective compared to what Russian AA vehicles can do.
