I’m still fairly new to war thunder so forgive me if this is frequently asked but is it normally for almost every match to have at least 2 enemies a full Br level above me? I’m recently got up to 7.7 US and there’s always at least 2 t-55 amd1’s in the lobby that’ll pen me from across the map with their dart rounds while my rounds just bounce off them. Is there something I can do on my end to avoid this or is it just how the game is? Thank you

Playing different BRs or squadding with someone to avoid Russian tanks is the only way. Sadly you are the mercy of the MM, and it tends to do stuff like that.
The T-55AM-1 should not be facing 7.7 tanks at all, and we really need decompression around those BRs.

7.7s just a fucked MM in general to be honest since it gets uptiered to 8.7 most of the time.

There are other T-55s variant that will do worse thing to his 7.7 lol. The T-55M, despite not having the extra armor plate on the hull, their turret protection is nearly the same as shooting there even without the composite plate will result in rounds ricocheting, and it fire an apfsds round that is 9.0 viable, miles ahead of the 3BM25 in comparison of performance. Then his 7.7 will also face this Chinese Object 122MT, which using a slightly more inferior APFSDS round compare to the T-55M, but will has no issues punching through his 7.7, plus if you shot out his barrel then he can still KO you with his ATGMs. So if I want to bully 7.7, I will actually pick the Object 122 over the T-55AM-1 any day.

That thing’s so fun to play, and I believe it is slept on. Its round is quite mediocre, but the ATGMs are so incredibly helpful. The armour and survivability are also better than you’d expect.

It’s good, the APFSDS still performs much better than the one on the T-55AM, plus it’s 120mm somemore, and the Object 122 has extra one degree of gun depression so more spot available for it to play hull down sniper. T-55AM1 is so overrated, compared to other 8.7s it is only average at best.
7.7+ is too compressed

BR spread is too big, with one whole BR imo.
Been trying stock French 7.7 lately, and its constant 8.7 games…T-55s could easily be 9.0.

7.7 is notorious as one of the worst BR brackets for uptiering, as 8.7 is very popular and not many nations have very good 7.7 lineups so its not something that gets played a lot.
The next one you’ll face is 9.3 due to there being a gigantic pool of 10.0-10.3 premiums filling out those lobbies.
If you drop to 7.3 or 7.0, you’ll find it ease up a bit.

Nope, all the 10.3s got moved to 10.7.
I am almost ALWAYS uptiered. How can this be the norm? No matter what BR I select, there’s always players a FULL BR above me. Must be some sort of “special group” of people who are at the top BR for these continual miserable mis-matches. Only consolation is using my T-29 and T-34 to wreak havok before I die at 7.0!
If, out of 15 players, 2 or 3 have a chance to be a top tier, you have much greater chance to be uptiered along with remaining 12~13 other players in your team.
Its that simple.
Always play as a sore looser and you will start to have fun with the game. Dont expect success… :/
And with the recent “decompression,” now I can’t even play at 9.0 with Italian vehicles because they moved the VCC-80/60 and the VBC up to 9.3.
I mean, before it was:
- 9.0 - 40% full uptiers, 30% full downtiers, 30% minor downtiers
- 9.3 - 99.999% full uptiers, 0.001% almost-full uptiers
And now it’s:
- 9.3 - 99.998% full uptiers, with most of the problem vehicles not moving up at all (BMP-2M, 2S38), plus the vehicles that shouldn’t face 9.3 at all and should be decompressed more (like the PUMA, T-72AV, T-80UD, etc.)

1-6BR was five years of development, 7-top is everything else. Bear that in mind.
Technological advance and Gaijn’s refusal to acknowledge eras in game means we have Jets vs Props ,Night vision vs none, ATGM vs APHE etc etc etc
It just means that going up a BR is a bit more of a shock as you progress up the game and probably no more so then that old heavy armour left over from WW2 to the new modern era and doctrine of fast and deadly.
If it wasn’t something you can get used to them I imagine nobody would every make it to top tier just a nasty shock early on.
Sorry for your struggle my man. Join France, their 7.7 is leagues better. Otherwise yeah, you’re a support gun more often than not in US 7.7.

Tbh, 9.3 is fine now , finally!
My favorite BR, I play a lot of different lineups: US, Ger, italy, Israel and also China 9.0( and been grinding the event a bit with Jpn and Sweden with premium Type 64 G and Leo1A5NO) and its not that often I am one of the few at the bottom of the barrel!
8.7 on the other hand, I’d imagine they now face 9.3 more frequently than before.
I can imagine 10.7 now suffers like 9.3 used to though…so BR changes just shifted like usual after these fixes…
