Those are vehicle specific problems, scouting through solid cover is a problem with the whole mechanic, which is obviously very different.
You only need common sense to understand that scouting someone you can’t see nor hear isn’t supposed to happen. Just like flying through ground isn’t supposed to happen.
Ofc its not supposed to happen, i agreed numerous times already, neither is scouting a pixel going max speed behind a bush or someone sitting on the other side of 2 buildings with a mark that then is following that guy visible for everyone in 3rd person (and not only on the map). As such a “fundamental” problem I kind of see it as the snails responsibility to adress it instead of just ignoring it for how many years and then suddenly start punishing players “because they should have known better”? Like “We sure knew about it for some years, but now because we tried to adress it in a patch and people began discussing it we start punishing players for it retrospectively”??? Not gonna happen
BTW I’m not using and definitely not abusing this mechanic and certainly not more than the average player, because its too time consuming while youre idling doing nothing, it can fail (or your stupid drone gets shot down, which is almost impossible somehow) and then ur way behind the lines in a pointless position while the enemy team had all that time to push.
you know that the exploit isnt really fixed. you still can do this with your squadron marker so your squadmate can spot him and then you have the bug as long as the drone is active regardless if you used the drone for spotting you´ll get less rewards and longer spot cooldown. so I dont think you can get rid of this problem…
and then there is the dquestion why should like early cold war tanks spot more targets than IFV´s… you can just balance it with other methods like active spot time reduction in the drone view or just make the drone IVF´s move up in br…
yep fixing it would be great, but then you have to find a fine line between spotting someone who stands like 90%behind cover and you dont get the pixel of the tank at like 1.5km and spotting through like half the city
my current Ideas are for fixing it:
-give the glasses like a 5-10second cooldown after leaving the drone sight(drone map is no helpful for moving targets)
-make a seperate spotting for drones which spots relatively fast but has only a short spot duration
-adjust maybe the br with the IFV´s so there is a tradeoff between the light and medium tanks
And some of your ideas I would 100% support like the scoutmarker staying on the possition where the enemy was scouted…
I just do not like the idea of drones are being added just for being worse at spotting than early cold war tanks
I like the concept of having more intel on the enemies with drones and sharing it with the team, but I also know the state which it was like 1-2weeks ago was ridicolous…
yeah ofc its nice to have more mechanics in the game so theres more vehicles that can be used in different ways and have more variety/possibilities of how to play. Half the team scouted or certain players permascouted the whole match (basically without counterplay) and playing arcade 2.0 obviously is not it.
just the amout of tanks you could spot(~half the map(did it a few matches))
so if they decreased the time you cant spot as many in the same time(thats my main point)
Have the feeling your idea steers into a spotting mechanic thats close to what armored warfare had/has
I think in general that every spot, no matter from who, should stay active till it got spottet on a mew position. (Updated position)
It makes no bloody sense that the last seen position stays only active for a few seconds… that first of all is super unrealistic and second its just not a good design. People already struggling with reading the map, why make it harder with this system that is in place since the beginning for no reason.
the update change was mostly due to too many spots making it too op. If player cant comprehend what they see its not my fault. and you also see the spotted targets on your screen not only on your map…
