Scouting Through Scout UAVs

Most maps got nerfed. Whole map sections on the edges and hill positions got blocked or got offmap timers atteached. Now airspotting. There’s not much left you can do, indeed. Flanking, camping, hiding, camoflaging is now neigh impossible. Higher tier maps now look like christmas trees, blinky enemy vehicles everywhere. Its not really fun anymore. Airspotting wirth thermal viewers is just the pinnacle of easymode gameplay.

I tried to adjust to this new gameplay but i just cant.

It does not feel like realistic battles anymore, i dont want that arcady stuff blinking there, perhaps if it would be in the minimap only, but not in your view.

The marker also should show the last known location, this what we have now has nothing realistic in it.

This is a dumbster fire.

That’s what we got as Gaijin was simply unable to fix a months old bug, amazing update.

Now we have a mode that looks like GAB and any sort of flanking has been neutered. You’ll push in like a headless chicken and you’ll like it.

One more reason to rush enemy spawn as soon as possible and reap empty light tanks running scout UAVs.

Yeah I will just play 1.0-5.7 maybe max. 8.7 BR as RB ground battles do not support this kind of feature nor any relatively modern mbt of that matter… maps are just too small and arena like. I mean what is 1,2x1,2 km map for any mbt or ifv ?
The same story is sim battles. I am always hopefull to get bigger maps but 80% they are the same small arena maps like in RB…

It is time for RB ground EC mode with bigger maps (6x6 or 8x8 kms) then we can test new mechanics or features like this one…

Actually… and i thought i never say this… but 12.0 makes right now acutally somewhat fun.

New AA makes it basically an Tank Only mode and if a Plane dares to fly low it get smacket by HE-VT. Same goes for any drone someone starts, it stays in the air for an average of 4 seconds before getting annihilated.

And with all that comes smt i think is very funny… people ACTUALLY respawn MORE then what they used to half a year ago! Onespawner should still get a violation promt for unfair play and get a meaningfull penalty but it feels like having no broken OP annyoing shit CAS in the air makes people get out of spawn without dying, reducing the frustration and increasing the willingness to actually try to win.

But in gerenal, who cares about the new drone System? Have seen 1 single guy so far sitting in the back of the map and spotting, but the CD of that drone is so high that ,as expected, no one really cares and nothing really changed.

On one hand I am seeing the same trend as you and people try to play the game more than before.

On the other hand 50% of the matches are just a steamroll when I play on the side with germany. 3-5 people spawn in iris and sit around our spawn while enemy T series zerg just rushes us due to tank advantage and we loose even faster than before. So for me it is still not enjoyable because maps are just tiny.

You can drive from spawn to spawn under a minute in some cases which is just laughable.
Maps are too small even for 5.7 gameplay.

Some of the maps and variations are just broken onesided for years now. E.g. frozen pass with one cap point A in the tunnel. North team is in advantage from the start. You just need one light tank that flanks and camps the church behind the south spawn shooting everybody into the back while advancing to the point. If you try to climb up and deal with him you are being crossfired from the point… Just a small arena map, where you just sit and shoot into enemy spawn at 300ms…
When I have a lucky shot on said light ofc his cannon barrel catches the shell so yeah.

We need 4-6x bigger maps to enjoy the game.

And after Playing a few Russia games myself (but mostly USA RDF tbh) i can´t really understand why, other then that the people still try to use SU-25 and so on and get clapped. I guess it will take a while before people adjust the playstyle, as everytime when big chances come, give the Players 6 months to adjust.

When I play 12.0 in my Iris, I get often killed by T’s in no time. I also noticed the rush, cause too many players play SPAA without any ground combat capability. There are just too many gaps in the frontline and they rush through, killing all support units and the match ends basically.

feels like Iris-T death cause ist almost always from ground fire. Rarely any air to ground threats tbh. Its like players adapted. Often you just sit around, nothing to do until a T-90 zooms towards you and ends it.

The whole system is ill thought. These air only SPAA’s are a burden for the team early on, it seems. We all know War Thunder is no team game, everyone just plays for himself in 99.9% of all matches. So you have this quite often: Allied teams with several anti air units to repel russian Ka-50 and KH-38 capable jets, but then they just spawn ground and stomp the team in 3 minutes (on smaller maps even quicker).
Even had a situation on this query map where my Iris was shot “dead” after 2 minutes matchtime: One T-80 rushed an open flank and the spawn area is flat without cover for such a high up truck. I was behind the spawn at the map edge, but there’s simply no way to hide. As soon as tank players get clear of the factory buildings, they’ll spot your antenna and thats it.

The whole gamemode incl. maps needs to be adjusted. Its not working very well right now.

Combined battles is really messed up.

Player dies, respawns into CAS, kills enemy tank. What follow next is:
1 → Enemy Tank dies, spawns another tank = will die again on CAS.
2 → Enemy Tank dies, spawns CAS = Full circle
3 → Enemy Tank dies, spawns AA, kills CAS = Useless after killing CAS and can only be done if you had already enough SP and your Spawn is not under enemy pressure.

But it depents on the BR and that another issue in itself. Some AA can destroy tanks… and thats breaking the game by itself.
The other AAs can not do that and are useless in fighting on the ground, they can only Defend against enemy CAS.
But enemy CAS can defend and attack against everything. Forcing people to do smt against him, which is costly again.

At the end, someone needs to spawn in a AA, to defend against CAS, if no one does the CAS will shred the people to pieces. So one or two guys need to stop playing the objective and just sit around waiting.

The only solution would be to reduce AA and CAS capabilitys. If a CAS is expensive and can only kill 1 tank on average, then the players would not be forced to respawn in AA. Especially in high BRs where u cant kill CAS with normal tanks anymore.

But for some reason gaijin went the direction of power creep… making everything more and more and more strong, forcing player to specificly play smt just to counter that. Like having a minigame withing a game that if u lose it u lose the whole game but cant be played by everyone as then u also would lose the maingame by itself.
