I have been away from this game for a long time and just recently trying it again. I noticed Denmark map is predominantly used with an Afghanistan thrown in in once in awhile. Occasionally I get Ruhr map but nothing else so far. Do they only have a couple working maps?
Also is the player count so low that they can’t separate Axis from Allies?
I can recognize a lot aircraft but now you have fly up to every sighting regardless of model type to decide friend from foe, or endlessly flick back and forth on the map when players report their position.
Other things I noticed Bombers seem easier to kill and the Spitfire flight characteristics have been changed so that flat spins seem a little too easy to get into and hard to get out of.
There are 21 possible maps in simulator, however the majority of games are played on 4 or 5 maps because the others are simply not playable. Half of them are too small for jets (and conversely: half are too big for props). The maps that come out the most (in jets) are therefore Afghanistan, Denmark or Sinai and (in props), Stalingrad, Dover Strait and Rhur.
I completely agree with you about the map rotation. We should really include more maps, especially the maps actually added in air battle: Pyrenees, the new map in China, …
All maps are playable by props and jets. However, there are some that are more suitable than others (by size, relief, …). Moreover, the maps are not identical depending on the Br, if I take for example the Denmark map, the airfields are more numerous and closer to the center of the map when playing props
None of this is confirmed but I assume that one server only has a few maps loaded at once, so if you are getting the same game server every single match you are likely to get the same maps.
One thing they could do is make separate “maps” using the BRs/brackets, by having the thing in the mission editor that creates map borders (in essence, shrinking the large maps). But that only works one way, which is making a big map smaller.
