I do enjoy using them in dogfights.
AIM-120C is the best AAM in the game with AAM-4 in 2nd. MICA and R-77-1 can fight for 3rd.
AIM-9Ms/R-73s are equivalents.
Both use strong PD radars.
Mica takes the first place.
Depends on the situation, but personally I would always choose a dogfight missile for close fights
AESA vs MSA is not even a debate
Why?
It has the same amount of missiles as the F18, while having better missiles as well, and has generally better flight performance.
15C has a worse flight model and worse + less missiles.
16C has less + worse missiles and conparable fligh model
All 3 variants of the Aim-120 (2 of which are identical btw) are also massively nerfed as are the Aim-9M.
The reality is that R-73 and R-77-1 are better in most respect than the western equivalent
I had great time with them on 29G too. Back then they were still a relative novelty so people werent that accustomed to them, so I managed to catch lot of people off-guard with them.
it’s a big ahh aircraft. I’m not saying that it does not have it’s advantages, but I’m stating the acceleration and better missiles (AIM-120A vs R-77) makes up for it in some way. Oh yea, forgot about the radar on the Sukhoi…
absolutely not
Then the pl12 should be in the same place as aam4
Correction* they can fight for first place
And the N001 is most likely the thing that holds the 27SM back the most
At no point did I say that he is not good, I said that he is not as good as before and that his IRCCM was weakened, I am not acting as if he were not, as I have already demonstrated I know very well what I am talking about, even in aerial combat it is not very difficult to flare him even without being pre-flared, do you understand now or do you want a drawing?
So… It’s pretty much on level with the AIM-9M? Nice. Haven’t seen any datamines on any nerfs about the R-73
Barely.
The best is the MICA-EM in pretty much every scenario except very long range. It’s agile, fast, with crazy HOBS and the hardest seeker to defeat.
After that it changes based upon distance. Sure, at 40km+ Aim-120C5s are technically the best, but trivial to defend against.
Within about 20km, R-77-1 is the better than the AMRAAM in pretty much every scenario. Better time to target and better in HOBS. (let alone the fact the Su-30 is firing off 12 of the things with a PESA radar)
AAM-4 is good, but struggles with being kinda niche like the Aim-120B/C5 are. Good under some scenarios but pretty mid in everything else
On this note, now that my Su-33 has all its missiles I’ll be working to fix its K/D. I likely permanently wrecked its stats on my account, but they should look a lot better in the future. It just really isn’t fun using two R27ERs and two R73s against Rafales and Eurofighters. I thought I was going to go mad. They’re not bad missiles but the low amount of them and the fact that R27ERs will miss their targets if you lose lock hurts the plane, because you’re forced to try to notch or kinetically defeat a Fox-3 missile, especially early when you do not have chaff yet because its behind a module, while the Rafale can drop a MICA EM at you from 4km away and turn away to defeat your R27ER because now you’re forced to maneuver to dodge the MICA which will ultimately lose you the lock. Fox-2 into the strongest missile in the game at close ranges is not at all a fun experience so I opted to just base bomb with napalm until I got the R27ER modification (at tier IV for some unholy reason)
As for the other mentions, I may have mispoken about the R-73 being OP (its hard to flare when its coming at you from behind and pulls really damn hard) and the R-77 (really strong close range, I struggle against them, probably skill issue but I die to R-77s and MICAs more than I die to AIM-120s.) but they are for damn sure not weak missiles. They’re incredibly strong and while I was spading my Su-33, the kill feed showed most people at 14.0 dying to either MICAs or R-77s in the furball. You’d see Aim-120s appear in the beginning but after the BVR jousting is when the Furball forms and then you pretty much only see MICA and R-77 in the kill feed. That was my experience from the 66 battles I played of which 40 were against 14.0s.
9M is not good in my opinion as it should be, nor is R73, both are nerfed
AESA v MSA matters more for SARH missiles than ARHMs.
@Farlexgamer_psn
PL-12 competes with AIM-120B for range, AAM-4 and AIM-120C are superior overall.
AAM-4 also has the highest acceleration out of the 100km missiles [not the highest delta-v though as that goes to R-77-1].
And AAM-4’s burn time can be buffed still.
R-77-1s have drag issues when maneuvering.
And of course MICAs have general speed bleed issues due to being thrust vectoring.
The game’s netcode causing death wobble makes those flaws even worse.
Pl12 and aam4 are basically interchangeable.
It doesn’t matter if the 120C reaches 60Km faster by around 3 seconds (or whatever it’s “upgrade” might be) when it has worse maneuverability at relevant ranges than an already mediocre missile such as the amraam.
Largely irrelevant due to it’s longer burn time which will greatly suffice especially considering the average distance of engagement in wt.
Basically same thing as R-77-1, but this time it’s upgrade comes from it’s platform.
The rafale gives the mica such a huge kinematical upgrade compared to the mirage, that it almost feels like comparing R77 and 77-1
AIM-120C has a longer burn time than R-77 and R-77-1.
Yes and?
It has largely worse maneuverability, possibly the worst one out of all top tier Fox-3’s.
muh range
Yup, I felt right at home with R-73 coming from the likes of Magics, PL-5B, and so on. Much more comfortable using them than AIM-9M. But it is probably the opposite if you’re used to longer range IR.
Man I wish they would.
Don’t be silly. Firstly, who gives a damn. Second, every game you have in a vehicle is a chance to improve your stats in it. Play enough games and you’ll get the stats you want in it, if you’re working on improving them.
