SA 313B Alouette II

Not very far in the italian tech tree so i dont know from playing it. Let me guess, one nation doesnt have radar spaa at/below 8.3 therefore alouette op.

Multiple nations don’t have 8.3 Radar SPAA

I’m more concerned with downtiers to 7.7, helicopters are already difficult to engage with appropriate equipment. At 7.7 you have no recourse beyond spawning a plane. I don’t think this should be necessary.

Germany, france, japan, china, and britian have radar spaa at 8.3. Ussr and israel have radar spaa at 8.0 and US have one at 7.7

The IRST tracking on these SPAAs is not equivalent to those at 8.3

Its radar, not irst. Only one that might have some issues would be the m163 but it has a mini gun so putting enough rounds down range to hit a heli shouldnt be a big issue

No laser range finder makes accurate fire impossible.

Spraying and “hoping” your shots land near the helicopter to “hopefully” scare it is not a counter.

Now I know you have zero idea what you are talking about. Spaa would never use a laser rangefinder to hit air targets. They have radar for a reason. You lock the target and it tells you where to aim.

Helicopters don’t give lock past 2KM.

Helicopters that are hovering locking gives you nothing, to hit it you need its range.

Laser rangefinder will range out to that distance. I’ve hit a helicopter hovering 1350 meters away with an M47 because I had access to a range finder, SPAA at the BR range doesn’t even have that.

What are you going on about? Radar locks give you range and radars give a lead within a certain range regardless of it being a plane or heli.

You can not lock a helicopter unless it is within 2KM with the radars of the mentioned SPAA

Lets see. I am going to take out my gepard and see

Your Gepard is 8.3 and has a laser rangefinder

Correct

It does not get a laser rangefinder. You are thinking of the gepard at 9.7

First match was luckly enough to see 1 heli. Locked it at 3.06km and got a lead to tell me where to aim.

Yes the Gepard has much better tracking than the mentioned SPAAs which are not 8.3 BR

You said mentioned spaa. It is one of the mentioned spaa. Luckly i am using the zsu 23 4 rn. It can give lead if they are locked within 4km. I can test the m163 next

Out of curiosity. You are able to lock 4km and beyond and still get range information, right?

Because against helicopters thats quite often all you need.

Edit: with the 163 that is. Because as with most Vamilad threads, one can read into exactly what lead to the creation of the thread.

In this case they clearly just unlocked the M163 and died to the one specific helicopter mentioned

Correct. Even if you lock them outside of your lead range, you still get their range to within 10m.

Yes, it happens to also be of the nation the helicopter in question is from.

Britian and france get the same exact missles on their 8.3 helis
