Apparently (as far as I know) the J-10’s RWR is not able to detect if an AIM-7M has been launched at you, has anyone else encountered the same problem with any other aircraft?
It only says TRACK, no LAUNCH warning

Gaijin in their infinite wisdom seems to have forgotten to add the F-15E’s radar (APG-70) to the RWR library. It’s not the first time Gaijin has forgotten to add new radars to the library. The J-10 is not the only plane currently suffering from this mistake, I think all RWR are.
Very cool Gaijin. And then at the same time they didn’t forget the Su-34’s radar, very epic and how convenient.
I might make a bug report on it, but maybe you could do it as well… I am however a bit afraid they would be asking for sources now that RWR ID’ing requires sourcing. If this is intentional that would be very odd.
Well
J-10 also not listed on rwr
As well as some more planes(maybe?)
Btw, youre still mustnt be able to detect launch
That’s weird.
That doesn’t impact launch warnings.
Is there a bug report submitted?
But if the radar is not added in to the library it displays as “?”
I did a bug report, this post is to collect data (i cant go plane by plane testing)

What I meant with not in the RWR library is like not in the RWR file at all, not that it specifically has a unique ID on the RWR screen. APG-70 is not present at all in any way or form.
I think by default the “detectLaunch” parameter is set to False, because in the past something similar happened with the Mirage 4000. Similarly it was lacking completely from RWR files and also did not give off launch warnings.
Now looking at the RWR files, I might need to do some testing to confirm that however. But this post does show at least that it’s probable, as it’s hard to deny here at least that the F-15E doesn’t give off a launch warning at least.
Also, I just remembered similar happened when the APG-63 PSP was added. It gave no launch warnings, because it wasn’t in the RWR files. Additionally it seems that at least for a lot of RWRs detectLaunch is set to False by default, it’s listed at the top of the file I guess.
Well see above post, what I meant with that was more like that it’s not in the RWR file at all. With the way Gaijin set up RWR’s, you don’t technically need an ID for it to be in the library (so having full functionality) so to speak. An example of that was the Gripen’s radar on release, showed up as “?” but still RWRs had full functionality regarding the radar, showing launch warnings etc, as it was only half implemented, just without ID.
ahhh i see my bad
With the f15, there’s a certain feature where instead of using cw to guide the aim7, it uses hprf, or the mode more commonly known as hdn, and so this doesn’t get picked up by other rwrs as a launch
Developers have chosen not to implement that. But yes, F-15s don’t even have any means for CW illumination, neither does the F-16C. The Hornet, so the APG-65, also guide sparrows by HPRF. But likewise R-27s could also be guided by HPRF.
This was the exact response to one bug report regarding this, it’s worded a bit weird but I think it means it comes down to game (balance) reasons.
In the end I don’t think anyone is really waiting for that.
