Well the other side of the battlefield is suffering from Abrams 5 seconds reload at full speed, why dont we start a thread about that? Not sure how long you were in the game but Abrams didnt always have that good reload.
BMPT just as ANY vehicle in the history of this game when it first came out was crazy OP and in time tuned down and put with the rest of the bunch! Su30 double racks are fake, they MAYBE could be mounted and/or used on Su30 but so far only the 35 was using those. No idea what was the reason behind that, as if 30 doesnt have enough missile as is…
B17, T32,first Leopards, G8N Renzan, A6M Zeros, Griffon Spitfires, F8F Bearcat, F&F Tigercat, M26E1 Pershing premium, Panther 2, Tiger 2, Dora D13, TA152 H1,Do 335,M46 Tiger, M4A Jumbo, B29, Tiger H, Ru 251, Black Prince, Tempest Mk V, Shiden Kai, Ki 84 Hayate, and and and…ALL these vehicles were when introduced and were new to the game ridiculously strong because they were NEW and/or premium vehicles so you need to make them sell, you make them good, sell enough of them, tuned them down make them blend in with the rest. Same pattern is being done now too! New Su30SM2? AMAZING BEST RU OP whatever, as soon as the new shiny thing comes out it will stay that way. Thats just their corporate strategy to get people hooked on it.
You can make a thread about that if you want but we all know that manual reloads are balancing factors for Gaijin since compared to autoloaders there is no definitive reload speed.
Exactly thats what always happens and it makes sense in a monetary perspective for Gaijin. But thats not whats happening with ru top tier rn. They are not at their repective BR bracket, because theyre new. They are there, because they profit from selective realism and/or the direct competition gets kneecapped by it.
Do you think the MI28NM would be at the highest BR if LDIRCM was realistic and every AGM in the game lofted like LMURS do?
Do you think the SU30s would be at the same BR as the Rafale/ EFTs without their additional racks and fake radar performance compared to the rest?
Do you think the T80/90 would be on the same level as the 2A7/SEP V2 if ERA wasnt a joke, carousels were properly modeled, baskets were realistic and western Armor wasnt cardboard?
Do you think Soyuz would be better than the Iowa if Gaijin went with an actually realistic implementation?
I know that premiums love to be undertiered (Turm and T58 say hello) and that new additions are stronger than the old stuff, because powercreep sells. Im not even saying that russia is the best or insanely strong due to selective realism, im saying that only that makes them competetive in the first place.
" Im not even saying that russia is the best or insanely strong due to selective realism, im saying that only that makes them competetive in the first place."
EXACTLY! The only thing I like about those tanks is how they look (some of them at least) but I absolutely HATE to play them. I am more of a Leopard enjoyer myself tbh…I would like to get BMPT someday just because of how it looks, but by the time I actually get it with my game time hours its probably gonna end up as a sack of number 2 as it always happens in my case with vehicles lol
Regarding the rest, yeah thats true aswell! But on the other hand real world circumstances play a big role in design timeframe, finances, tech availability, politics etc…if the USSR didnt fall apart and some other things didnt happen they would probably already have all those toys that are just coming out now. Same for the other side if it happened to them.
Ofc they do thats why we have an ingame system to balance vehicles with different capabilities from different times. Gaijin actively using selective realism for balance opens up a door that comes with so many problems for the future.
That one is DEFINITELY true! Selective realism should have its limits and some other ways of balancing stuff out should be used and not the same pattern for 14 years now…it just opened the door of hell for implementation of whatever they want…Same thing happened in the “other” tank game back in the days
You can’t talk about reload penalty while moving only for top tier. It will affect all manual reload tanks and will have a huge impact for low ranks.
And it’s still strange to take “no penalty while moving” rule as example which work the same way for any tank of any nation while yout opponent talking about selective realism which work one way for “insert names” nations and the other way for “insert names” nations. It’s a diffent cases.
The penalty while moving on lower ranks will affect all tanks equally since they are all or very big majority of them is hand loaded.
Top tier is a good example because it wouldnt affect some vehicles as much as others…hence why lower tier vehicles arent part of the topic, its a top tier tank topic. Selective realism happens on all sides is the whole point of the “no penalty while moving” topic and is not exclusive for only a certain nation
Actually no. DU is used due to being pyrophoric and self-sharpening, so when it hits armor, the depleted uranium ignites as the armor removes the oxide layer so flakes are igniting in air. The density is nearly identical to Tungsten being just 0.25 g/cm3 less dense. Also as its self-sharpening, the penetrator can continue to drive into armor whereas Tungsten alloys will begin to blunt. This is adiabatic shearing which causes parts to shear off at angle which maintains its sharp edge instead of pancaking. 30% of the DU penetrator ignites upon impact generally. I do not see how you could assume the pyrophoric nature of DU is over exaggerated given it has nothing to do with assumptions. Reference the below article for instance on temps for ignition and other data. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0022311525008189
Maybe I am missing something you stated but the DU penetrator is worlds better then tungsten alloys not to mention we have over 2 million tons of DU stockpiled. The science of it is well proven and documented.
He was talking more about how some people think that DU penetrators nexto the good penetrating capabilities also have the mega effect in incendiary side of things. DU is probably more likely to drop sparks and set things on fire due to its roughly third melting point of that of a Tungsten alloy (1300ish to 3400ish iirc) and the micro particles igniting easier than regular metals
