Russian top tier tanks need a fair buff

Better way

what do you make of this part? ive also heard that pyrophoricity of DU rounds was an overblown capability but this article mentions it a few times as an advantage

oh it has advantage at turning on highly incendiary stuff like wires, fuel, and more delicate stuff on the style, but i meant it like in a spall way, people think of it as “melting everything in the tank” kind of thing

hahahahah, do people genuinely think depleted uranium is Super thermite?!?!?

a lot of them sadly do think its some super thermite, and apprently the pyrophoricity was greatly overexagerated, some even think it triples the spall for some reason, and the melted metal becomes some kind of incendiary round that absolutely sprays the crew inside and turns them on fire aswell

there are people that still think shrapnell acts like a pinball inside tanks so im not that surprised

LMAO, that’s actually pretty funny but yeah incendiary rounds do have a purpose if not why would have germany developed incendiary rounds, they saw its pretty useful at doing damage to tanks but not the way people think they do, def would be cooler if it had such properties in wt like spall doing double damage at certain components like hydraulic or electric systemsso even if just a bit of spall hits they actually do something

Verry interesting read! This one is worth bookmarking :D

if ur interested in that, go search about Korea’s K279 apfsds and Japan’s type 10, the only 2 apfsds in the world made out of tungsten that have the Adiabatic Shear Banding Behavior of the DU rounds, i do need to re find the source for type 10’s tho, cuz K279 was in a presentation but i believe the claimed ASBB of the Type 10’s was in a document

Hmm thats interesting. Thats basically the main reason as much as I understood for the DU rounds, Tungsten loses a lot of kinetic energy on mushrooming. The alloy they use would be interesting to see what its made of but Im guessing also thats not something we can find?

nope, i did find the exact patent this was registered to tho a 2001 patent application by DAIKIN (filed as JP2003042700A) describes a method for creating “a highly rigid, self-sharpening tungsten penetrator using amorphous metal and heavy metal particulates:” explicitly use a “cyclic heat-treatment and double-cycle sintering process” that “causes a phenomenon similar to the self-sharpening effect of the depleted uranium penetrator”

Wouldnt making metal particles sub micron sized help with localized heat buildup thus when mushroom would occur the “bend” so to call it would heat up, thermodynamically degrade itself and fall off?

this is exactly what is described in the patent lmao, JP2003042700A - 高速飛翔体及びその製造方法 - Google Patents

I guess there are also benefits outside of my field of expertise as a welding engineer lol was just thinking logically from experience lol

im into mechanical engineer after i abandoned airspace engineering(it was defunded by the government sadly) so im more used to thermos and this kind of stuff, until they pull me into real thermos calculation, that is my fracture point

Aerospace industry here lol though I am only in charge of the welding works, not the product design itself.

Btw thanks for the Japans patent link, bit too long of a read for this late at night but I am guessing they played with magnesium in their alloy since magnesium likes to burn when put in contact with some other metals

for what i could find its nickel- iron alloy, tungsten particulate + amorphous metal matrix composite, it basically causes the apfsds to peel by layers and thanks to that it just peels like a banana lol

I think the germans also developed for their newer penetrators the same capability but in a slightly different way. Though not sure exactly how it works, need to do some digging about it. Generally everyone is going in that direction to copy the DU behaviour with their penetrators. New generation of tank guns and their shells designs are finally becoming interesting and not only long rod, full speed send and hope for the best lol

u should check out DM83 patent, its really weird lol u would love it

Who care ? if you don’t care about it why bother show up at every single thread about RU vehicle just to complain about them ? Show up at every single possible thread just to claim biased this biased that, literally rent free. And if no one care why talk about game balancing ? Why even bother ? Or you just that unemployed ? If no one care then why bother talking about why Ru tank doesn’t need a reload buff ?

Dropped the WEAKEST insult of 2026 bro. Didn’t expect much for someone to drop 70 dollar on that pack. Gotta be the weakest russiaphobia on here ever since that one boomer guy who block people for saying thing he doesn’t like

And as a reminder , a reload buff would not change anything to the Russian top tier. Cut them all to 6.0 and nothing would change
