This is what a -114 is supposed to be like in the terminal phase;

AGM-179 (JAGM) — Missing lofted / top-attack flight profile
Which was accepted 9 months ago, so no reason why they haven’t corrected things yet.

I mean, it’s kind of funny that both Hellfire and JAGM don’t loft enough to bypass APS but LMUR has insane loft to easily bypass APS. Just a happy little accident. Here another picture while I’m at it. Green is Trophy maximum upward detection(35°), red is LMUR dive angle(70°).

It’s a HE warhead.
Also lost loft anyways.
Almost every nation besides Sweden is guaranteed some form on MITL heli next update too.
Read my post above you, thank you. Your claim is false. It still has 70° top down attack past ~2km. The new tool is extremely accurate and welcome so that people can’t BS their way out of this.
Why should the LIMUR and KH-38 get nerfed, A missile fired by helicopter or airplane to be interecepted by a system like trophy is like waiting for santa to reach velocity of mach 2. I get it they are extreemly powerful but the reality is such weapons are powerful. The problem at times is introducing such tech without any counters like the 2A7 AV and 2a6 in the past. That is what causes all thsi comotion.
The equivalent was added with it, that being JAGM, and then given to almost every nation the next patch.
The problem is that JAGM has been artificially nerfed by Gaijin to the point of being stopped by APS while the LMUR enjoys full top-down flight path with extreme one tap potential due to HE warhead.
Well missiles fired from helicopters or planes being intercepted by APS is something I have never read about or seen in IRL. Well in some highly controlled environment that might happen, but not anything to go by with. Therefore, gajiin should not really be nerfing NATO or Soviet tech without showing proof of APS being able to intercept such ammunition.
Why? You want to also not allow any defensive measure from working unless proof is shown. Okay then - let’s see that test report on Kontact-5 being able to stop a WW2 M61 round…
The thing you have to remember is that an APS doesn’t have a little internal checklist - ‘Erm - nope - I can’t try to intercept that - it’s been launched from a helicopter!’
It doesn’t really care what launched the incoming round / ATGM - if it is within the engagement zone and quite obviously not something like a rock thrown by an angry local - it’ll engage it. Even the biggest ATGMS fired by an aircraft are still effectively flying at supersonic speed headfirst into a supersonic interceptor. Missiles don’t like that and tend to break when it happens.
While a broken missile is still very dangerous as bits of it continue via momentum - bits of broken missile are much LESS dangerous to the protected vehicle than a full-size one hitting it.
That’s because IRL, these top-down missiles strike at such an angle that they arrive from the APS radar upper blind spot. Iron Fist has +55° upper detection, Trophy +35°, and Arena +40°. Trophy/Arena also cannot intercept supersonic projectiles, so a missile coming at it too fast will go through, which can be the case for plane-fired weaponry. Iron Fist can do that, though, and even stop APFSDS.
Next-generation APS are moving toward being able to intercept top-down ammo, which will thus include air fired missiles or certain top-down ground missiles like the Javelin.
In War Thunder, JAGM comes at such a nerfed low angle that it’s in the detection zone of the APS. LMUR has its correct top down flight path and thus cannot be detected by APS.
Iron Fist has +90°, Gaijin just refuses to make it.
So does Arena
Is there a bug report for it?
I don’t remember seeing this for the early 2000s Arena. Arena that the US almost bought for their Abrams by the way, funny anecdote.
The more modern Arena-M, I’ll have to see it to believe it. Russia is King at showing/talking intention of what they want to do, but then failing to achieve these intentions when the production model is finalized for mass production.
Yes, denied as “In game model would clip”

Oops, i forgot to add the -M, on me

Yeah, I remember some upper echelons guy from ROSTEC saying Arena-M could intercept top down ammunition in 2021. Though this was years before the final design was first installed operationally on tanks(~2025), it was before the war and Russia has proven to downgrade some of their weapon program lately, such as the T-14 being cancelled in favor of T-90M production until 2036.
Arena-M final design might have lost the full upper detection zone to lessen the cost burden of equipping the tank force in an already strained budget situation.
Yes i was thinking of a different missile that got “SAPHE → HE depending on speed” in the datamines
*To be fair however, its not like 20 kilograms of TNT slamming into the top of your tank is any less incapable of overpressuring your tank
Again, this means nothing. It has terrain following which still lets it see everything and the strike angle is still sharp.
It is effectively unchanged in capability.

because they have nothing comparable?
Are we like deadass right now? Which other helicopter missile has the same strikedown angle as the LMUR?
Like other helicopters that are using FnF weapons were having problems of extremely shallow strikedown angles for years, and then oh would you look at that, magically gaijin is infact capable of modeling steep strikedown angle when it comes to LMURs but cant fix PARS3LRs and similar missiles (hell even ground launched spikes for that matter) from hitting at wrong flat angle.
And Kh38s? Are you serious? Why should the fastest ATGM in the entire game in high numbers with a massive payload get nerfed when the other nations use post-3km subsonic mavericks and hammers? Hmmm i do wonder.
yes well something you clearly are not getting is that this is a game and not reality. Yes, in real life missiles and weapons are by design meant to be unfair. But guess what, this being a game gives the game developers the amazing tool of “maybe we should simply just not add it” for the sake of balance or at the very least striving towards something resembling balance.
Vast majority of all top tier vehicles, and im talking like 90+% doesnt have your “destroyer of ATGMs” trophy APS. Hell half of nations dont even have hardkill APS at top tier period.
Theres currently 5 nations with APS vehicles in their top tier vehicles.
China with VT4A1
GB with BN
USA with the new Trophy SepV2
Merkava Mk4M with trophy plus the Namer and Eitan tho those are light tanks.
and Russia with T72B3A and T90M
So give or take 6-8 vehicles.
this is hardly making it out as if every single vehicle had APS and you had to spam all your missiles to overwhelm it (btw trophy has 1.5s cooldown before being able to intercept another missile. Arena, the chinese GL6 and Ironfist all have 0.3s readiness)
? What?
This is my first time hearing of this
The lofting got reduced when they changed it from loft to terrain following on dev. They changed the loft to terrain following and added MITL and then took away the MITL.

Here (this is live btw, not dev):
No they can intercept them, both trophy and arena have 70-1000m/s interception speed.
They cant intercept darts unlike Ironfist that has 70-1700m/s but they can intercept HE/HEAT shells and ATGMs. Interestingly ive not seen them be able to intercept SDBs and IR glidebombs but that is besides the point.
Slightly different thing from the lofting discussion, the June 2026 stats are available now, so much for Russia dominating.
