Russian Teams Steamrolling NATO - Top Tier is Broken Again?

Im pretty sure the SU30SM and the SU27 are not identical

They are, doesnt change that theyre ammo from 1994(M829A2 OFL 1220 F1) and 2001(DM53) against 2016 best rounds RU has to offer. Also i think SEPv3 is m829A4 not A3

Pov: russian tank commander in eastern europe.

The L55A1 on the 2A7V was made for the DM73 and were still using the 2001 DM53

Both over and underperform depending on circumstance, manual loaders absolutely overperform in motion and sustained fire but underperform in stationary short bursts. Also the insane reloads for manual loaders are gate kept behind 1.1 million SL and either 2300 Ge or 1.3 million RP

Same for the turret baskets on Abrams and Leos

More like: T-80BVM > Merkava > Challys > ZTZ99A/WZ1001 > Oplot > VT-4A1 > Ariete > T-90M > T-72B3A

Ranking isn’t perfectly in order and I’m probably forgetting some 12.3 MBTs, but you get the idea.

EDIT: there we go, I forgot the Oplot. And the Merkava, somehow.

  • Su/30/27 both have the middle pylon.

  • as I made a post however far ago, manual loaders over preform, with most irl loaders in full combat gear achieving a full reload in about 6.38~ secs in average. And these were well trained individuals, the time was tank from a sample of 10 different loaders.

  • this should kill the crew, but doesn’t: https://youtu.be/1kBselFcrfc?si=121uCT5-0HyV5tyV

  • DM53 is the correct round to be used dm73 is listed as still in development from what I have found, with it starting to develop in 2020. “Old” ammo like dm53 is made in the thousands, so old stock piles will likely be used first. Nor does it seem Germany is stocking their tanks with it yet.

  • 2015 T90M & T-14 Armata were unveiled at the Victory day parade. They entered production shortly before, and entered production at the same time. t-14 Armata isn’t a prototype and as of today’s has 68 listed tanks. Therefore with m1a2sepv3. Being a 2018 tank. As well as newer Leo 2a8s likely to come to the came, I’m still questioning where the T-14 Armata is.

I’m surprised you listed o plot so low tbh. Isn’t it a better T80U(M)?

It has worse forward mobility and worse armor than the T-80U.

At least the T-80U UFP will block top tier darts at some ranges/angles or if it was a bad shot, the Oplot hull on the other hand is a lolpen at any range for 550+mm pen darts.

So it’s a T-series tank without the main advantage of the T-series tanks.

But it has a god reverse lol. So sounds like a t-80B, with only the era upgrade and a transmission upgrade.
TBH the t-80u only lives those darts if it’s lucky. DM53 is kinda mean

Ngl I’d like to see them add the Newest T-90m with its upgraded reverse gear (finally. Only took them 50-60 years)

Still no proof for it on the SU30SM whatsoever and as we all know things like that have to be specifically proven for each type and version of plane.

Yeah there are like 10000 posts about that topic all coming to different conclusion which is why i said a reword is needed, manual loading is grossly simplified so are autoloaders.

Youre probably mixing up DM73 and KE2020NEO aka DM83. DM73 is in service on the L55A1, DM83 started qualification in september 2024. (also theoretically DM63 and 63A1 exist as well)

Like i said, oversimplified but i dont think we need to have a discussion about what shots should kill when were comparing manual to autoloaders.

well like you said, its probably going to come into the game with the next gen of tanks. Which is honestly not a bad decision by Gaijin. If we had the T14 now there would be 0 new tank content for russia in the future.

PS: lol

  • it lists dm53 still as the main used round, with dm73 not in production. If you could post a source, that would be great
  • an open ammo hold with a direct hit not killing the crew is a pretty big problem… it’s like saying the autoloaders shouldn’t kill the crew if the ammo catches fire. But yes a total overhaul is needed, but the blast door being open and getting hit needs to be fixed now rather than later it’s only fair.
  • you say lol to the T-14 not being a proto, but they’re working kinks out and fixing flaws I’m sure with any tank. And yes I know the aren’t producing them in high numbers at all. I think a goood stop gap would be to give the current T-90m in game another upgrade package to give it the new transmission. Rather than add a new tank with the thermal protection covering, the transmission and so on.

Is the t14 and last t90 varient the only things left for the ussr? (Besides more one off prototypes of t80’s)

I just want a new batch of top tier MBTs to bring more nations up to or closer to the Leopard 2A7/Strv 122 standard.

Like I would love to see the SEPv3 (no tusk/trophy, M829A2), Challenger 3 proto, T-90M with better reverse, Leclerc XLR (with shard) etc.

And than later we can have a wave of APS equipped MBTs.

There’s hundreds of prototype tanks they could add, among light vehicles they haven’t added. No scout helis etc.

For as many vehicles as they have in game, there is still thousands missing.

I think the newest T-90M has arena APS as apart of its package, just as SepV3 has Trophy (which kinda debatably works… the Israel’s made it and employ it but were losing tanks to simple RPG-7s, aka the thing trophy is meant to stop). So I’m questioning it’s utility… in game it will work fine though.

Qualifikationsmuster neuer Panzermunition für Bundeswehr und British Army | Rheinmetall heres an article by Rheinmetall that mentions “DM73 is currently the most modern iteration, introduced in the Bundeswehr for use with the L55A1 high-pressure gun.” in the context of the qualification for the KE2020

Eh I have faith that they’ll fix whatever is going on with trophy IRL.

I don’t have much more faith in Arena than in trophy, since most of the time corrupt people or people with small egos only show us what they want to see (goes for those people no matter where they are from).

Okay, so 2023, which means in the in game tank “period” we aren’t really there yet kinda. Seems like we are up to 2015ish.

The only APS I truly believe in is the one on the T-14 merely because it’s meant to stop all threats bar drones, as that wasn’t a threat until recently, granted I’m sure it will be adapted in some fashion to deal with that.

But from the clip of the APS firing at 3bm42 / 3bm46 it did actually degrade the APFSDS a decent bit, by… I think it said as much as 31%~?

I really want to see a KV-4 event tank ngl. Pretty much an upscaled KV-220 with the 122 like in WOT. Although I guess I wouldn’t be upset if they went with the 107mm.

But from the blueprint and the mockup, it looks more like the 122mm was going to be the Final Cut.

Actually 2022 according to the document and thats just declassified official delieveries for the Bundeswehr so internal qualification was probably long before that

Trophy is by far the most combat tested and effective APS irl, within the expected threat window, the IDF reports a 80~90 interception rate, that’s set to improve with the new Trophy upgrades (as seen on the MK4M-400) since that adds a 360° IR sensor.

Russian APS seems effective from testing footage but from my knowledge it’s had fairly limited success in conflict

T-90M2 with better reverse and Burlak module is expected as most probable next thing in Soviet tech tree
