T-80U/BVM? No their mobility is solid.
T-72B3/B3A/T-90M? Yeah they have pretty mediocre mobility.

T-90M mobility is mid if I want to be kind, but I usually lean towards mediocre a litle bit.

mid is hardly something that I would consider good. There is a long list of tanks that I would rate above the T-90M in terms of top tier mobility. Hell thinking about it, I would probably have the T-90M as the top tier MBT with the worst mobility.

Armour doesn’t really come into play, people know to just aim for weakspots and that is practically a guaranteed death in Russian MBT’s.
The mobility of the T-90M is among the worst at top-tier, if you’ll consider that ‘‘Good’’ then that word loses all meaning.
I have no idea why the T-90M isn’t 12.0 like the M1A2.
It’s one of those tanks that can’t do anything:
- Can’t flank because it’s got poor mobility.
- Can’t brawl because you’ll just get breeched/barrel knocked out and then you can’t go anywhere with it’s abysmal reverse steering and abysmal reverse.
- Can’t CQB because it’s LFP is so stupidly wide and the reload rate is the literal worst of any top-tier MBT so you’ll just get swarmed the moment you fire a shot.
- Can’t play powerpositons because the gun depression is so bad it removes over half of the best powerpositions across the various maps as a possibility.

Tank with small weakspot against tanks with big weakspots its a big advantage, especially at longer ranges and hull down.
And about the rest, im playing chinese ztz96a p which has less armor as its soviet counterpart and it really tanks shots in the turret and hull. Many times I got penned just destroyed my autoloader without ammo detonation.
Of course someone who’s never played the T-90M would say that.
Please go ahead and start grinding that T-90M, just don’t be surprised when you get one-tapped by everything on a consistent basis once you unlock it.
War Thunder isn’t about sitting at the back of the map and sniping people off, plenty of maps don’t even allow it and the few that do, often require gun depression which this shitbox doesn’t even have.

And someone who face soviet tanks I know how frustrating its quick shot a soviet tank, especially in close and long ranges, you take more time aiming for the weakspot. And as someone who played merkava, I know what having a huge weakspot its.

In mobility terms the T-90M is a T-72B3 that’s 4,000KG heavier
The ZTZ96A uses Kontakt-5 equivalent ERA, for the parts that are armoured: it keeps up with USSR counterparts around 10.3. It’s the coverage that’s weak, with a football field for a LFP.
Consistently tanking shots in ZTZ96A really says more about the people shooting it tbh

It is an advantage if the 2 tanks you compare are equal in every other way.
However the M1A2 is better in so many ways that the better armor of the T-90M can’t compensate for that.
You can get penned there in a BVM by anything that shoots darts past 9.7 and is taller than you, which is mostly everything you face. And the LFP is a joke in every T-64/72 variant, early APDS rounds can pen it with ease. Soviet/russian tanks just have armor in the UFP and turret cheeks, the rest is paper that sometimes, maybe, once in 100 times, saves you by volumetric acting wonky when hitting ERA bricks.
Every tank in the game can be scalped this isn’t a feature unique to soviet tanks. What is unique to soviet tanks is the trunnions around the breach acting as 900mm of armor preventing what is a weak spot on every tank from being a weak spot on them. Russia ERA is well known for stopping rounds its cant. I mean it well over and over again stops rounds that barely skim the sides of them or touch them and if a round lands between bags its never going to penn due to how the armor check is preformed on them, the ufp and turret cheek also make up most of the tanks profile so saying that it only covers them is dumb.
Also the lfp is a weak point of course it can be penned by some apds, hell the abrams turret ring can be punched through by 35mm apds off the type 89 reliable. Russian tanks have issue with both how they get modeled in game and how mechanic around them work.
I love when people have terrible shots on any T-series which result in:
