You say you have no premiums and you’ve likely only GEed a ways up the ranks.
The 9.3 to 10.7 line-up of Russian vehicles is a strong brawling unit.
12.0 T80BVM I have not unlocked yet, so I will not comment here on its efficacy.
12.0 T90M is a brawler with exceptional ERA and good tanking ability, plus the bonus sabot to start. Downside, it will not hold up against DM53. Better to be aware of common lanes of travel and stick to a couple buddies to soak fire or attract attention.
T72B3, same as T90M, less armor, but good acceleration and a stupid amount of firepower. Gun handling is what makes it suffer, meaning you need to keep using your hull to get snapshots if necessary.
Likewise T80B at 11.7, but faster accel, faster reverse. Easier to pop back from return fire. Downside, ERA is suboptimal.
T90A, great gun, decent accel, crud reverse. Will not soak as much as T80 or T90M, but 3BM60 is god-tier penetration against any Western hull.
You cannot overextend and rely on reverse with these vehicles. Thus Western style tanks may be more to your liking. Nevertheless they are consistently the most powerful kinetic penetrators up until final tier rounds from top tier Leopards and Abrams.
Aiming for the hulls underneath the turrets of most Western designs with these rounds will yield results, killing off crew and likely locking up turret rings. Likewise you can aim underneath main guns of Western designs and breech them easily.
It is, russian shells do a lot more spalling along with russian tanks having much smaller weakspots compared to the Abrams. Historically Abrams should have much better protection than T series tanks but eh this game is made with particular bias in mind
That’s just a flaw with how WT is, and how weakspots work ingame. IRL, the Abrams weakspots are much harder to hit. No one IRL would purposefully aim at a Tiger I cupola, or at a Jumbo MG port, but we do since the game allows us to.
It isn’t Russian bias when you can perfectly aim at weakspots.
You cannot aim perfectly at russian weakspots because they are smaller so you have to stare at the enemy tank for longer while he can just click on you center mass without even trying, Abrams should be able to comfortably go through T series upper front plate so to balance the game, if it happens that russian players who are generally worse at the game can kill an Abrams much easier than other way around then its obvious that some kind a bias is present
That would be very unbalanced, since the Abrams would then have all the advantages over the T series, rather than just having the speed, reload, gun handling, and survivability advantage. There is more to game balance than “best armour wins”
I’m just joining the conversation as a t72 main and I would say I wouldn’t say that Russia suffers but I also wouldn’t say that we are over performing we’re just mid for now
Bro I swear to God 90% of the US mains are literally the same as fing tiger 1 fan boys that want tiger 1 to be unkillable god and its same with Abrams because they sow 3 documentaries and they sed that tank is superior to anything else
I’ve been saying this forever, everywhere. The Abrams and t90 + Bvm are pretty equal. Where map dictates which would do better. Neither of which come anywhere close to Leo’s and Strv’s. With the only real differences between them are:
Do you want more armor?
Do you want better gun and thermals.
I also VERY agree for average player Russia tanks have lower floor and ceiling, with USA having higher for both as well.
Great believer in realistic battles we shouldn’t see down the barrel as the aiming point but the historical sight location for that vehicle. This overnight would improve the armour of most tanks ands make hitting weakspots much more challenging.
Except that it isn’t and more frequently than not, the round will pass harmlessly through the autoloader despite the presence of propellant cases being hit, giving the T-series a free return shot.
You all discussing weak spots. And this is ridiculous. Because in most cases tanks shot from afar. And here lies the problem - in most cases any Ru tanks are dead no matter where it was hit.Just bam and it’s dead (and I;m talking about 90M and BVM). What’s more ridiculous about western tanks is that they somehow can survive being shot from sides, from behind. It should be instakill, especially from behind but somehow “oh, we have engine fire”. And Ru tank “shot to the track, you dead”. I once shot leo from all sides and it just kept being alive no matter where to shoot, sure it was penetrated and that’s it. Took me 7 hit to finish it - it’s freacking ridiculous. And don’t tell me about lower front plate of Ru tanks - how is that weak spot???
Also don’t tell me about gun integrity - this mechancs should be removed to the hell of it. Hit from afar - oh, you have no gun. As opposed to “you need to hit barrel directly to disable western tanks gun”. WTF?
Firstly western tanks like Abrams Leo etc. are larger and have more space on the inside which is why they can survive being shot in the side compared to Russian tanks where they’re packed closely ontop of ammo. 2. not sure why it took 7 shots to kill a leo as one well placed shot on the front left of the hull (their right) will insta kill it unless its a 2a7.
was you checking the XRAY damage camera? maybe you was shooting to an already dead zone of crewmates. checking the xray camera is important to see which crew member is alive or where the ammo is, then aim for it.
I play Russia and don’t agree with him I survive tons of shit in RU tanks.
However no one but Leo’s are so hit or miss about damage. I side shot anyone, they’re dead or disabled and, Most times this holds true. Leo’s are the only ones that ever seem to take a shot to the side, disable neither the breech nor the turret ring. Kill a member or 2 and and he just turns to you and shoots you.
It’s my anecdotal experience but no tank from a4 up gives me this experience except the Leo’s
