29TD is a TV guided weapon in the game.
It’s extremely difficult to get TRACK lock on anything past 6km, just like on other TV weapons…
the Kh-29TD is TV guided
Still works out to 20Km+
Wiki claims it has an IR channel, and if you really need one it’s not like it’s carriers don’t have access to a thermal equipt TGP either.
Except that it has a Significantly larger HE warhead and is faster than the average missile so miss distance will be less than it otherwise would be, and IF you really need Terminal guidance, try the -29L, or assorted GPS assisted PGMs instead.
you didnt awnser the question
big missile has big warhead and a big booster
what a shocking revelation
the wiki that is known for being 100% correct all the time
That is not how lock range works.
Targeting pods do not increase the range of TV seekers, because that’s not how lock range works.
The Kh-29 seeker has a range of 6km, outside that range it is a static point track, which makes its effective range around 7km against tanks.
so tell me what russians platforms have a thermal channel or even a tgp
do not have access
It doesn’t, I just tried it in the game.
Plain simple TV missile that’s pretty much found at 10.0.
Slinging it off from 20km is very niche as it’d travel more than half of the time in POINT lock, meaning enemy can just move away from it’s seeker before it hits 6km mark.
Su, no, they didn’t add anything to it
it was a rethorical question, i know what platforms have it or rather dont have it
Russian Kh-29T carriers:
- Su-17M4
- Su-24
- Su-25T
- Su-25SM3
- Su-27
- Su-27SM
- Su-30SM
- Su-34
- Mig-29SMT
not all of them have the Kh-29TD btw some only have the normal Kh-29T with less range
and only two of them have thermals or a tgp with it
Since you went through the extra effort of editing your comment im gonna be nice and answer.
Adding something at the top is not filling a gap just per definition of what a gap is and if you mean gap compared to other planes theres plenty of top tier planes without a 20km ir FNF missile.
The program not being cancelled and the missile not existing can both be true.
weirdly theres quite a lack of those pictures in any relevant thread and as Tripod already posted similarity is usually not enough for Gaijin.
Also if Gaijin adds the Lion class in a historically accurate balanced state with peers on the same powerlevel then thats absolutely fine
There are indeed few photographs of the X-38 mounted on aircraft, but we do have a significant amount of video footage of them in use.
So where’s the large warhead equivalents for other nations such as the AGM-84E.
They do because often their optics are better then those integrated into the seeker allowing you to resolve targets at a longer distance, this allows you to correlate the seeker earlier than you would otherwise, and get it off the rail earlier.
And what of more sedentary targets, such as SAMs? Tanks aren’t the only thing necessary to shoot at and considering their ever increasing size they don’t exactly have much of anywhere to hide without catching HE to their radar mast on the existing maps.
Depends, Russian designs are comparatively very late to the multi-role feature set on the whole so most are on dedicated strike variants and airframes and as such their Optics tend not to be podded
You’ve got the MiG-27M, -27K, Su-24M,-25T,-39, -30SM
The only reason it seems so uncommon is that for some reason Gaijin seem to really not like intervening variants of the Teen series or holding them to an early configuration (within their variant, or at all consistent with ordnance and systems), or modeling doctrinal limitations for certain pods that prohibited Self-Lazed targets from being engaged.
And then going around to as many trees and forcing them to fit.
Sure, but once you unroll the defenses you can utilize the shorter ranged ordnance you brought to maximize potential stowed kills, right?
It’s probably in hibernation where most of the design work (the easy bit) has been done, just looking for funding to actually set up a production line. Though it’s not as if the IIR variant has much use, since as an Anti-Shipping missile It’s not got much of anything going for it to justify the cost when the adversary practically lacks a Surface Fleet, or is otherwise a Fleet-in-Being, and the prospective ARH variant would do a better job anyway.
you dodged the question again
i asked for a THERMAL channel or a TGP with it
spill the beans what russian platforms do have thermals with their optics
i didnt asked for platforms that have any optic
Yes mounted on aircraft, I was asking about photos of it mounted on an SU30SM
so when are you going to cry about the JAGAM MR?
i didnt see a picture of it being mounted to a helicopter yet
so where are your complaints
Will you be happy if I promise you that I will officially complain once it hits live?
Highly depends on the situation, as getting close to the battlefield is always dangerous.
But you know the answer already? You clearly aren’t looking for a list.
I could just as easily ask how many Maverick Variants have an Active Radar Seeker, and a 70Km+ range then turn around and complain that it’s (The AGM-65 Longhorn, by the way. It’s just as real as the -38MT is, I’m “sure”) not implemented.
