Revert turret baskets

After you’re already dead…

You seem to not understand. The metal does absolutely nothing, having a piece of spall hit a strip of 2-5 mm of aluminum or steel is not going to stop turret rotation like they have modeled in game.

hate to be the barer of bad news but thats what turret baskets basically are… your lucky to not die in one shot when you actually get hit, hell they still havent even fixed the double spall turret baskets produce when you hit the giant hydraulic pump mechanism thats attached to the turret basket.

For anyone unaware this is the double spall im on about, there is a giant pump mechanism that seems to produce another amount of spall when hit but nothing else on the turret baskets seems to do this, even Russian ones do the same thing

if you couldnt tell I was be sarcastic then i dont know what to say… i know what turret baskets do IRL and dont like there implementation, just pointing out the previous trial of stun mechanic while gone, turret baskets in there current form are basically that, cheap hits to disable a tank from firing back or insta killing you

They where going for BOTH

i know they were going for both… im being sarcastic… what we have with turret baskets is basically already a stun mechanic just worse in every way

Fair enough, it’s hard to pick up in text sometimes. But yeah, it’s basically the same result, but imagine what a nightmare it would be getting auto cannoned with stun and the modules… might as well just ALT-F4 the game at that point.

oh yeah the double approach would be pure chaos, i dont mind turret baskets if they actually stopped them from producing extra spall on hits, cannot count how many times my entire turret compartment has been filled with spall because of the main shell spall + the turret basket spall (which seems bigger than the main shell spall at times) just nuking my crew but hey BMPT doesnt get its turret basket when its literally modelled in the brochures :D

It defiantly should be better implemented, completely disabling the turret drive is ridiculous, if their are components on the basket that will affect the traverse they should be modeled and have to actually be hit to jam it and sheet metal is not going to be producing spall (probably not stopping any large chunks either though).

Wouldn’t be realistic anyway, they wear intercom headsets, sure, they might feel a pressure change, but they wouldn’t be ‘in shock’ from a round hitting and not penetrating.

The shock mechanism was suggested for rounds and spall that hit the crew members, not for rounds that hit without penetrating.

Even to this day people still have no idea what it was about… back then, people also wrongfully assumed it was for rounds that did not penetrate and voted against this without even reading the Dev Blog that talked about how this was meant exclusively for crew members who get harmed.

Gaijin aren’t even trying to hide it anymore, USSR keeps getting special treatment every single update. The nation that should have received it like the two other major nations, but no, NATO tanks are the only ones getting this nerf while russian ones receive shadow buffs all the time. I think turret baskets are a thing that shouldn’t have been added in the first place, it ruins the top tier experience even more than what it is today with 90% of your teammates being premium vehicles

A penetrating APHE round maybe, but those don’t need more buffing.
But I mostly voted no because I know from doing PvP in MMORPGs that being “stun locked” is not enjoyable gameplay, not to mention the ringing and flashing effects they wanted to add sound annoying as hell.
But instead we get the repair simulator, even the autoloaders, while not as bad as the turret baskets are a guaranteed 40sec repair (with maxed expert crew) if a single piece of spall hits the stub extractor.

Either everything gets turret baskets, or nothing does. Personally I would prefer the latter, but either would be a significant improvement nonetheless. NATO turret baskets are Gajin’s way of overcompensating for Russian carousel autoloaders, which aren’t even a huge weakness nowadays because apparently destroying the autoloader itself doesn’t necessarily mean the ammo is destroyed. Western tanks, particularly the Abrams, are already woefully incompetent. Gajin ought to backtrack on this turret basket stuff entirely, before they give it to the Challengers and Merkava’s etc in the next stinker of an update.

type 90/10 are getting their basket, challengers and merkavas are next. If some go down, we all have to go down.

Challenger have turret baskets ? And by the way no we dont need to go down like this, this is a very bad nerf, it could affect the horizontal speed but not 100%. Its not fun in a 10 minutes game, 2/10 minutes is repairing and lets not talk about some tanks that problably will never get it

Or just switch to Russia and let’s all play Russia vs Russia.

Just wait for Gaijin to pull out some BS to make it happen. They think turret baskets are horizontal drive, anything is possible.

Oh it absolutely needs to be like this.

that should not be the reason why this shouldn’t apply to everyone.

Germany, america, france, japan, italy will/already have this issue by next update. Its time Britain and israel follow suit. The only nation not affected should be russia because autoloader carousel apparently does not impact horizontal drive. The new meta will be turret basket vs autoloader carousel
